Dance OD post comments and PBP Here

Please post all comments and PBP here.

The teams are listed in the order they will skate at the Grand Prix. Note that the highest scoring OD's in the Junior Grand Prix were between 53 and 54.21
They were skated by the Riazanova & Guerreiro, Hubbells, Chock and Zuerlein and the Shibutanis. Obviously, that's a tight range, so this should be an interesting competition.

For some of the couples, a video of their OD is available. If I found one, I posted a link.

1 Marina ANTIPOVA / Artem KUDASHEV RUS
    Coach: Oleg Sudakov, Valentin Kuziaev
    Choreographer: Elena Maslennikova

    Program: Baby, It's Cold Outside
    Rhythm: Foxtrot, Quickstep
Best score in the OD this year: 48.81 at Ostrava JGP
    TES 28.75 PCS 20.06

    Judge's highlight: The initial spin
They had problems with the twizzles

    1 Sp4 4.70 0.69
    2 MiStNt3 6.20 0.88
    3 STw4 4.70 -0.25
    4 RoLi4 4.00 0.63
    5 DiSt3 7.20 0.00
    6 Li+TRANS

2 Ekaterina PUSHKASH / Dmitri KISELEV RUS
Coach and Choreographer: Alexander Svinin, Irina Zhuk

    Program: Fanny Met, Tiger Rag
    Rhythms: Charleston, Ragtime
Best score this year in the OD: 46.88 in JGP Belarus
    TES 25.40 PCS 21.48

Judge's highlight: Synchronized twizzles, element 1
    Flight Plan at Belarus:
    1 STw4 4.70 0.25
    2 SlLi2 3.00 0.38
    3 CiSt2 6.40 0.25
    4 Sp4 4.70 -0.06
    5 Li+TRANS 0.00
    6 MiStNt2 5.40 0.38

Unfortunately, ragtime is not a dance of the 1920's, 1930's and 1940's. It is a dance of the 1900's and 1910's.

3 Kharis RALPH / Asher HILL CAN

    Choreographer: Carol Lane, Juris Razguliaevs

Video of their OD. Doesn't look much like Charleston to me.

Shpilband knows what a Charleston is--he and Zoueva choreographed one for Davis and White. I am nonplussed that they have mislabelled this music. BTW, Putting on the Ritz itself is a fine choice for this OD. It just isn't a Charleston.

Antipova/Kudashev haven't skated well looking at the scores. Their TES are low.
    OTOH Pushkash/Kiselev had good scores.

It's funny that Ralph/Hill got the same Tech Score that they got at Mexico: 28.10
PCS are lower. Probably a good performance.

My favorites so far have been Riazanova & Guerreiro and Pushkash & Kiselev. The Canadians were good too, but a bit slow, particularly in the step sequences. A&K had a rough skate. Agafonova & Dun had some interesting transitions and moves but were a bit sloppy.

Riazanova & Guerreiro wuzrobbed! They were great! They were NOT happy with their scores.

Maia Shibutani stumbled and had a hand down during one of the twizzles. They are a very elegant team, but they skate way, way far apart. He almost dropped her in the lift too. Rough outing for them.

It's justified, though. Like I said, she had a hand down in the twizzles and he almost threw her into the stands in one lift. They seemed very unsteady, while all the teams in the first group, except Antipova & Kudashev, had mostly mistake-free performances.

Don't really get Chock & Zuerlein...their program was not very interesting, imo.

Chock & Zuerlein are leading now with the best TES and PCS.
I personally find their OD boring and generic.

I agree completely, and to have them ahead of Riazanova & Guerreiro who had tremendous style and a fantastic program is ridiculous. I have no problem with the judging otherwise, but that was just wrong.

Their twizzles were off, too. :/

My favorite performances of the night were Pushkash & Kiselev and Riazanova & Guerreiro. I thought they had the most interesting programs and great performances. I like the Hubbell's program as well, but it wasn't skated very well.
