I only know about Shizuka Arakawa,Carolina Kostner in several Long Programs and Ando but I don't know who jumped it first in competition and if there were others before them.
Maybe Slutskaya?

I *think* that Elena Sokolova once attempted something like 3T-3T-2Lo, maybe 2001 Cup of Russia? Sometime around then. It's not on youtube, so I can't verify from work.

I thought Ito was the first lady to do a triple-triple combination. (I know Debi Thomas did one, but don't know which came first.)

Ito was the first lady to do a triple-triple combination in international competition -- at 1982 Junior Worlds when she was 12.

You're probably right about Slutskaya being the first to do triple-triple-double.

I think it was Slutskaia at the '01 Worlds: 3S-3L-2L

That's the one that immediately came to my mind.

Do you know who was the first to do a 3-2 combo?

This is of no help whatsoever as i cannot remember the link but perhaps it will jog someone else's memory. I once stumbled upon a website that hoped to list all of the first jumps/jump combinations. The table (which i think was brightly coloured) split each jump (i think from single right up to quad where completed) into categories of mens and ladies. I think it might have even listed attempts that were not successful of difficult jumps like quad attempts by Bonaly.

I am certain it included a reference to first 3/2 combo by a lady.

Does this jog anyone else's memory?

I have a question to those who have watched figureskating for many years. When was the three jump combination such as the 3-3-2 discussed in this thread officially "allowed" for the first time in international competitions, in the men's or the ladies' events? Or has such a jump combo always been allowed? I am wondering this because from what I watched I don't think Midori Ito ever attempted a three jump combo in competitions, though I believe she was well capable of landing one if she practiced and tried in a competition. Probably the same can be said for Tonya Harding and Kristi Yamaguchi as well.

bonaly was the first lady to land a 3/3/2 combo. She did it at 1991 skate canada, 3toe/3toe/2toe

Three-jump combinations have always been allowed in long programs. They're more common at lower levels when all the jumps are doubles or singles rather than any of them being triples.

Although there had been limits on the total number of combinations allowed in a program at least since the mid-90s, it's only since the new well-balanced program rules that were introduced with the new judging system that combinations have been limited to no more than one three-jump combination and the combinations being limited to no more than three jumps.

gkelly, thanks for the answer. Maybe not really worth executing a combo such as 3-2-2 compared with 3-2 or 3-3 back in the early 90s? But then, wow, dangao just pointed out Bonaly did 3-3-2 in 1991, that's impressive.
