Cynthia did fairly well.

Beautiful 2A to start - should get positive GOE
Bumbled the 3Z but looked like fully rotated - didn't get the 2t on the end
Changed her planned 3F to a 3T - played it safe
Terrific spins/FW

She is into 1st

Good for Cynthia, does anybody know what she skated too? I remember when she BURST on the Canadian scene, she was seen as the second coming, then growth spurts, injuries, etc....

I missed the 1st half of Leung's SP also, though I could hear all the audio.

what I saw:

3F looked fine
SL steps a bit slow but ok (partly b/c new)
She actually looks like she's having fun in this program!
Spin a bit slow but ok

Nice music, some good character in it that I think could rather work for her with some more work on it

what I heard during 1st part (but couldn't see):

good combo (on replay i think borderline UR)
2a entered very tentatively, but fought for
lovely deep layback, seen on replay

48.76 - 5th place (or 4th?) she had a couple of things downgraded evidently (a spin also??) ouch!

looking stern in K&C

On 2nd thought, the judges are nailing Mira. Under-rotations again!

I don't know what's the point for Canadian fans to celebrate... Falling-all-over-the-place Cynthia's fate is hinging on Mira's UR ... What a sad situation.:bow:

Joannie is up

Popped her 2A
Beauty 3F3T
3Lz - fell and not even sure she got the rotation in
Definitely not her skate today - disappointing.

So Mira did poorly because the judges don't like her? ....... or her mother?
Is that how a competition should be run?

Joannie Rochette - a very mixed bag.. but definitely not so great...

1 a, no apparent reason (lack of focus?)
3F-3T , 3T UR on replay
3Lz fall they said bad rushed takeoff

Lack of intensity in performance - probably partly b/c mad

53.58 - 2nd place!, 3-3 was downgraded

Joannie's 3/3 was not credited - she got nailed on the second one.

Into 2nd place behind Cynthia - who would have thought!

Oh my goodness, Joannie, dear. As much as I want her to be on the world podium, her short programs are continuing to destroy her chances. It's really sad!

Rochette should really consider putting in a 3toe+3toe in place of 3flip+3toe and the way her Lutz is going lately, maybe she should substitute it with a 3flip. Ugh.

Wow, that was unpredictable. Mira is waaay back in the pack and is very unlikely to take second place now. Phaneuf skated decently (on a not-great) night — bet she wasn't expecting to be in first after the short. Hope she doesn't implode with the pressure (though really, who doesn't think Rochette is still going to win this thing?) Rochette had a terrible skate. Major errors on two of her jump windows and downgraded 3/3 to boot. I'd say she really needs to go to 4CC no matter what the outcome here. She needs a better SP skate going into worlds. I enjoyed Lacoste as well.
