Chase/Speroff (Schindler's List)

The Broadmoor kids definitely support each other. There's been a lot of cheers for each of them.
Split 2twist not as high as the other Broadmoor pairs
Throw 3Lo nice
SBS 2Lz she pops
Star lift to one hand, flip out dismount
Great unison on first half of SBS spins but then lost it
He's fairly flexible, nice spirals
FI death spiral with hand change, very nice position for her
Pair spin, lots of speed and then almost fell on the pairs sit
They seem better matched line and body-type than the other Sappenfield pairs, but her height obviously makes the twist harder.

Carman/Knierim 48.31
Simpson/Miller 46.39
Farr/Kern 43.41
Aaron/Cohen 42.04
Chase/Speroff 41.86
Gueli/Marron 40.05
Smith and Bartholomay 35.79

i'm just too lazy to check.. lol.. so how old are Chase/Speroff? they don't seem to be aged too apart to me, since they're also Sappenfield students..

oh god.... i hope those little girls don't actually listen to the coach all the time.. it's just too dangerous, and not worth it.. if a pair is more than 10 years apart, it's obvious it won't last long

Part of pairs is being tough and you do need to be brave and able to take some major falls, but you shouldn't take those kinds of risks with a kid who is 8 or 9 and can't tell when enough is enough.

And I think Shantel Jordan and Jeremy Barrett were the most successful/longest pairing with a major age difference. They were never eligible for the JGP and broke up before she was eligible for seniors.

Castelli/Shnapir (Survivor), only US pair to qualify for JGPF this year

Split 2Twist one arm up, very high, almost horizontal, looked effortless
Star lift with a nice close of Simon's feet (helpful icenetwork); split was amazing when they showed it on replay
Pairs spin very nice, rough exit
Spirals, nice ice coverage, very cool last spiral but they lost contact (possibly before 3 seconds)
SBS 2Lz easy
SBS spins OK unison but very far apart
Cool dance lifts into throw 2Lo, easy
FI death spiral, she's leaning sideway, very interesting

Carman/Knierim 48.31
Castelli/Shnapir 47.57
Simpson/Miller 46.39
Farr/Kern 43.41
Aaron/Cohen 42.04
Chase/Speroff 41.86

I love that program to Guatemala Survivor. WTF that it was scored behind Carman & Knierim. At least not too far behind.

I love the transitions and unexpected choreography in this one. Kudos to their coach and choreographer. Coach is Sherry Franks, I think?

Sheikh/VanCleave (Apassionata)

He is very, very bald
2Twist nice, lots of speed
Throw 3Lo great landing -- no break at her waist at all, better than most of the seniors
Star lift to one hand, flip out dismount, his mohawks are little unsteady
SBS 2Lz nice
SBS spins unison slightly off
Spirals really filled out the rink (literally, they almost crashed into the boards after the COE)
FI death spiral with hand change, great arch for her
Pairs spin very pretty opening position, kept up speed well

Carman/Knierim 48.31
Castelli/Shnapir 47.57

Absolutely no way that C/S should have been behind C/K. C/S were robbed and C/K majorly gifted.

Totally agree on C/S.

BTW Sheikh and Van Cleave's pair spin didn't count because he put his foot down. A level 4 pair spin counts 4.5 and the difference between a throw triple loop ( which counts 5.0 base ) and a throw double for the base mark is less, so losing all credit for the spin is a huge hit to your score.

Interesting or crap? ;)

Casteli/Shnapir landed everything, a cleaner throw, a much more original creative program and more transitions. She has better positions on the lift, too. Carman and Knierim BOTH fell - and took their sweet time to get back up - and had a scratchy throw. Their program was also less complex and IMO, C/S are more well matched and had a more mature presentation.

ITA. Totally. C&K did not get that kind of favorable reception on the JGP circuit either. They fell and did not get wuz gifted scores.

The current pair is skating to an ill omened song. it is called "wipeout" it is about disastrously falling while surfing. and she wipes out on the throw triple loop.

That, to me, is annoying.

Tanovich/Chau (Espagna Cani)

They are starting to get very close in height
Split 2twist nice
Dance lift into throw 3Lo huge, she hung on
Footwork into SBS 2Lz great unison (even the same height!)
SBS spin best unison of the night, a little off on second half
Great spirals (he's very flexible)
Nice transitions
Star lift to split overhead to one hand
Dance lift to death spiral, he falls (looks like he got too low) and she goes down with him
Very nice pairs spin (also very long)
Great artistry from both (shame about the death spiral). They are so very well matched in terms of lines and flexibility, but it looks like she might outgrow him very, very soon.

Carman/Knierim 48.31
Castelli/Shnapir 47.57

Loved Tanovich and Chau! Shame about the death spiral fall! That said, I'd be shocked if this turns out to be a long termn partnership - she's already almost his height.
I don't know what the judges were watching but, why do C/K have the highest PCS?

ETA - Glassberg is lovely. I wish she had an age-eligible partner.

Glassberg/Woodruff (Anthem)

He's one who used to skate with a very young girl (I think they had something like a 12 year age difference)
Spirals better than average, until she hits the boards and they both go down
Split 2Twist a little low
Death spiral with hand change very low to ice
Star lift to one hand
SBS 2Lz nice
Pairs spin not in unison at all, very close together
Throw 2Lo bad 2-foot
Pairs spin nice

Carman/Knierim 48.31
Castelli/Shnapir 47.57

C/K PCS - I don't know. But if you have a high double twist and once were filmed doing a quad twist, it appears to turn the average USA judge's head even if you can't do a quad twist now.
