5 Euros the day ticket? 5 tiny Euros?

Too bad the men's freeskate is so late in the evening. Is there some really cheap youth hostel in Den Haag?

I've searched. No. There is just one, and it's fully booked.

They were looking for volunteers last month. I'm not sure if they still are. The volunteers get a place to sleep (if they apply for multiple dates).
If you're interested, here's a link to the announcement:

It contains a link to the application form.

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately my Dutch is awful, despite the fact that I have been living somewhere close to the border for the majority of my life.

I am thinking about just staying the night there, walking through the city, it's Saturday night, perhaps there are some clubs / bars open and then taking the earliest train back to Aachen. It would be worth it, the line up for the men's event is impressive...

Well, they might want you because you're not Dutch :) They list 'media assistant' among other positions, and I thought with all those languages you speak you'd be a perfect candidate :agree:

Brian Joubert has withdrawn, the reason given being tendinitis in his right knee (not too serious according to reports). At this point it is not expected to keep him from going to Worlds.

I feel bad, Joubert never seems to get a break from illness or injury.

I know - he's had health issues in each of the past three seasons! I really hope he'll be fine next year with the Olympics, I can't imagine he'll stay around for Sochi.

Even without Brian, there are still some great skaters entered and I hope it'll be a good competition.

Kevin van der Perren is on the list. If he's going, why wasn't it announced on their home page, along with the other top 4 guys from Euros?

I noticed both Adrian Schultheiss and Kristoffer Berntsson are listed - does anyone know if they're actually going to participate? And Jenni Vahamaa, too - I hope she'll will be in good enough shape.

: thanks for the link, vancouver!

What a change in the level/quality of skater that was at this event two seasons ago. IIIRC, two seasons back was the first year this competition was held (re-incarnated from the same competition that had been quite prestigious many years ago). The event was just ladies...Debs, Jrs and Srs with just a few standout skaters... R Flatt (her intl debut as a Jr), A Gilles, J Vahamaa. to the Dutch federation for pumping it up and bringing back this event to a new level of excitement!

The problem with this competition is that this year, there is NO information on the internet. Last year the event had near-live results, and this year---nothing. Several events are completed and there is no information as to the results.

Sorry, but IMO this competition becomes more minor than ever because of lack of information.

Thanks for linking the result page vancouver!
What's interesting is that the results seem to be updated before a segment is over, but still the people in charge seem to be very much behind. Or is it just me who sees the results of the first 5 ladies skaters only when the SP should long be over?

Yea, I don't see the full results either. But when you look at senior ladies free skating they have the warm up groups listed. Its obvious that the SP is over.

Sheesh what happened to Ponsero? That is a very low score for him.
Great score for Contesti though he must have been spot on.

It's been reported that Joshua FARRIS (USA) who just turned 14 in January, won the Junior Men's FS and the silver medal. Josh is headed for his first JGP events next season.
