On Friday Ivan was diagnosed with varicella - a disease caused by infection with the varicella zoster virus, which causes fever and an itchy rash. In his age it is very severe disease. He has a temperature of 40 degrees of Celsius which means 104 Fehrenheite. (Complications can be bacterial infection of the skin, swelling of the brain, and pneumonia; adolescents and adults are more at risk for severe disease.)

I wish Ivan to be healthy soon!!!!

He was already replaced by Stanislav Kovalev who finished fourth at Russian Junior Nats 2009.

I'm disappointed at this, I really like his FS (his SP's not my style this year ). He had a shot at at a medal but anyway...get well soon Ivan !!!

Thanks for the information. I’m disappointed to hear that but do hope he recovers from his illness soon.

Who is the guy replacing him? 4th at Junior Nationals, anything else about him?

Russian top skaters withdrew due to illness
Russian top skaters Ivan Bariev and Artur Gachinski withdrew due to illness. The 2008 and 2009 Russian’s junior Champion Bariev has some kind of flu. The same is the situation with his teammate Arthur Gachinski – Russian Junior Vice-Champion.

OMG.. I love his FS
I wish Ivan & Artur get well soon :cry:
