Thank you for starting the thread, Joesitz. I haven't really followed pairs JGP this year so I'm rather looking forward to this even though I can't find a stream (how am I going to manage men SP without one ???).

I had a question for this event and I accidentally posted it in the mens sp thread... sorry! (I am new and trying to get use to everything)

For this event, if we do not subscribe to IN (or don't live in the US) then we can't watch this right? No one else has a live stream, right?

how sad :(

I had heard that one of the Russian stations will be airing the men's LP. If so, vids will eventually surface.

Slow

Some kind of folk motif; tinny music. Girl in white blouse & little red skirt. Boy white peasant blouse, black pants.

Spiral sequence-slow
footwook into a very slow dance lift turn into 2tw
2Lo Throw
sbs spins start decent, then deteriorate
2lz
starlift, change to haircutter position and down
Held foot spiral into DS was probably short on the 2nd rev
interesting pair spin but separated too much and may get downgraded

37.92 sb 6th place

Paige Lawrence Rudi Sweigers CAN
man white shirt black pants with suspenders,
girl in blue polka outfit

nice job to Sirtaki (did I miss that this was a folk SP?)

Sp Seq
f/w into jumps
a section that sounds like duelling banjos for the SBS spins
I think that was a triple loop throw?
Star lift with changes
Spiral into DS with good speed directly into pair spin

48.64 SB 1st place

Carman/Knierim were such a wonderful Novice Pairs, but they have not gone beyond that. In fact, I think they've lost something.

Bird/Schultz were a complete surprise for me. They are good.

Lawrence and Swieggert skated as if they were in Seniors. Good job!

The Polish team and a good Ride of the Vallkeries. Hope to see more of them

They're in matching black unitards with a variable orange stripe from shoulder to foot. One skate each is orange.

Ride of the Valkyries with some kind of drum machine sort of beat synced over it.

They are very sloppy, but complete their tricks
2Lz
triple loop throw, three turns on the landing
Really, really out of unison on first leg of spin, a little better on the other foot
Off kilter position in the star lift and no control on the put down-she puts down her foot immediately
Dog pee spiral into a half biellmann spiral
Change hands DS directly into a pair spin

40.58 sb 6th

resurfacing now

They did ok (did all elements clean, I think), but their music was so horrendous that I could not enjoy watching them.

So far I enjoyed the Czech team from group 1, Bird & Schultz and Cheng/Gao. I thought Carman/Knierim were a little gifted with their score, as their was a mistake in the landing of the twist and their whole performance seemed very rushed. Lawrence/Swiegers deserve their lead but I preferred the other Canadians in terms of style.

Would one of you plz be able to tell me how the French (Foucher/Massot) did ?
I did take notes and they were favorable. I think there is more to come from that team and the other French team, too. If you can get a stream from anywhere, I suggest you watch their LP. They are not yet ready for podium but they will be in a year or two

All these scores are so bunched together, which basically means the long program is going to mean everything. Is everyone really skating that similarly to justify these scores all being on top of each other?

What kind of philosophy is that? The big guns arrive - the pbp goes away?

Well, thanks for the info so far anyway. :agree:
