For some reason, I've been hit with one bad sinus infection/lower respiratory illness after another. I felt so sick last night I couldn't fall asleep until 6:30 am!

I'm on antibiotics, as usual, and after 4 days of them I don't feel better and in fact feel worse. When I cough my head feels like it's going to explode!

I'm currently unemployed, fortunately, so I can't get fired. But I am sick of just existing...lying in bed, on the couch. I should be out working and exercising, enjoying life.

I am writing this not to get pity or anything, but just to get it off my chest. Maybe some of you have been through this.

Everytime I start to get sick it's the day or day after I start to ovulate. I become hyper sensitive and sneeze alot, despite allergy meds, then after awhile have the urge to sneeze but can't. This is followed by chest congestion then a sinus infection.

I told my doctor about it always starting when I ovulate by it goes in one ear and out the other. Are there any drugs to stop me from ovulating?

I really can't go on living like this.

Sorry to hear about your illness. Have you had blood work done to check for anemia or an iron deficiency? Have you had your thyroid checked out lately? These conditions can affect your immune system You should go back to the doctor and tell him that you are not getting any better and you need further testing. Also if you are having trouble with your cycle see a good gynecologist there are a slew of things that can help you out.. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear that you're sick.

demarinis5, Is there such a thing as a good gynecologist? I'm 62, and all the ones I've had over the years stunk one way or another.

Once I got uterine cancer and had a hysterectomy, replacing gynecologists with oncologists was one of the few good things.

Johar, I think you need to tell your doctor who the boss is. My brother went through some of the same symptoms, except the ovulating  , for about 2 months. His doctor kept giving him antibiotics and the problem was pneumonia. It seems like the antibiotics weren't helping. I kept telling him to tell his doctor that he needed to see someone else. About a 1 1/2 years ago I went to an Ear Nose & Throat because of a really bad sinus infection. Besides the anitbiotics and other meds he had me use a saline solution. I have done this everyday since and knock on wood, I haven't had another infection. He gave me the receipe for the solution. It's 3/4 cup of water to 1/4 teaspoon salt. I microwave for about 2 minutes or until the water boils, let cool and put in a squeeze bottle.

Golly, I hope you're feeling better soon. Keep us updated on your condition.

Please check these things out with your doctor(s), Johar. Hope you can get to the root of it and feel better soon.

Sorry to hear about this...have you asked your doc to send you to a specialist? My Dr. is good that way - although he is pretty astute at figuring out what is wrong himself. He will send me anyway. You should ask your Dr. to refer you to a specialist - especially if this is a chronic condition. I hear what you mean about "going in one ear and the out ther other."

Hope things turn around for you soon.

I hear gurgling in my chest when I exhale, if I am lying down. I need to go back to the doctor. It's Monday with not much improvement.

Sure hoping you are getting better now. Sometimes we just need to change Drs. I've done it several times. I'm pretty satisfied with the latest one.

I hope you feel better. I had something similiar to you last month. I did not go to the doctor though. I am actually just starting to feel better. I could not sleep. I would be up all night trying different medicines. But a friend of mine made me some Tea. I hate tea. But I thought it can't hurt. It actually made me feel so much better and it also made me sleepy. I started making me some every night. Just a thought.

Flying Camel,

What brand of tea is it you used?

My friend said that since I had a nosejob done (cosmetic surgery) in the mid 90s I may have scar tissue pressing on nerves in that area, or blocking my sinuses.

It's Wednesday and I am feeling much better, and can smell and taste 90% of my food.

Johar, glad to hear you're feeling better. Since you have problems with your sinuses, it might do you good to try the sinus wash. I swear by it. I haven't had a cold or sinus infection for over 1 1/2 years. I do the wash every morning.

Johar, I'm not a medical expert, but in addition to what some people here have suggested, have you considered doing allergy testing, especially food allergies? If you're consuming something you're allergic too, it could have a really bad effect on your immune system.

Hope things continue to improve!

I do sinus washes all the time, and use a netti pot on a regular basis. It hasn't one much to stop me from getting sinus infections.

It sucks, to be sick. But I cannot imagine being sick for an entire month. I hope you feeling better soon or already.
