Does anyone know why the FFSG elected to send Florent Amodio?

Because he placed 2nd at French Nationals but was left off the European Team in favor of another guy. So they offered him the World Trophy team instead.

Or maybe they are just fed up with Préaubert, who can't seem to get the PCS and then lost the Universiade against a rather obscure Chinese skater and a Russian guy without a Lutz or a Triple Axel. And of course fed up with Ponsero, who only needed to place 10th at Worlds, but screwed up so royally, that he didn't even manage to do that and therefore lost that precious third spot for France.

Amodio screwed up at Junior Worlds, but maybe they are more forgiving with one of the puppies.

You can't lose what you never had - so essentially Yannick helped preserve the two spots for the French men ;). He was the risky choice for Worlds, and it didn't pay off. But imagine if he'd pulled off the kind of LP he had at Euros...

I think the WTT is a good oppoortuntiy for Florent to get some international experience competing against the top people, but without the pressure of an individual event; it's not like he'll cost the French team much if he screws up, becuase France has zero chance of finishing first anyway. Not to mention that from looking at the prizes, everyone's a winner at the WTT!
