I think I followed the insturctions for ice halo quite closely.
Probably it does not feel secure enough because my head shape is rather flat, shrug.
I now just skate with a padded hat, but the helmet will return once in a while for new elements.

I asked about head protection on another ice skating forum and I was really shocked by the stigma of wearing head protection and the misconceptions regarding the possibility of seriously injuring one's self while ice skating. Most other sports take precautions to protect themselves properly (hockey, speed skating, football, etc), but I'm shocked that figure skating does not.

The Ice Halo sounds like a great idea. Can't quite imagine the shock, not to mention the pain, of being hit in the head while practicing spins. Sometimes pairs skaters take nasty falls in their side by side spirals, and some of the more elite skaters have been seriously injured.

While we're at it, perhaps it would be a good idea to wear modified knee braces to give some protection to that part of the body.
