Lambiel's score is a welcome back gift from ISU, they just wanted the score to high enough to make him serious contender for Europeans and Olympics. I seriously hope Lambiel at least get a senior grand prix event.
Scores does not matter a lot as the the contender for Olympics qualifying spots are too far behind, so there should no he was robbed argument.
As for costume, I hope he is not taking any fashion tips from Tarasova.

Oh, the Swiss-German article says that the Quad was completely rotated. He apparently hit a perfect 4-3 in the warm-up.

Well I think Lambiel has officially joined Plushenko in the "mega star power= outrageously scored" club. No matter if half of their programs are lackluster (for Evgeni transitions for Stephane jumps) they will still get "we bow to your feet" PCS from the judges.
With that being said. Stephane needs a lot more if he wants this comeback to be suceesful, he can not always rely on PCs to medal at Vancouver. 77 is not a podium contender score in my book. He' still a 3axel-less skater and that will be crucial. He didnt master the jump during his whole career, I doubt he will do it in a few months. I hope he proves me wrong though.

So North Korea(PRK) might have a figure skater in Vancouver. Strange to watch his bio. Just training 4 hours a week(?) and such a decent score. Anyone saw him skating? good jumps maybe?

Ahh, I can't explain it. Fanfare is the same word in English, my dictionary says. And when the fanfare begins, that's the Fanfarenstoß (that's how it would be written in German-German, the NZZ writes Swiss-German). In this case I think the author meant it as a metaphor, because Stéphane begins something new, a new project and this was the impressive start of it.
Actually it's PCS+GOE. GOE seems to be the new approach for the judges to send out free gifts to the skaters they want to hold up. The 38 TES for a SP with no 3A (isn't that a required element for men?), no combo jump (another required element) and a fall means that he's given +3 GOE on pretty much all non-jump elements.Poor Joub can never catch up with Lambiel and Plushy unless he can successfully pull off 3 quads.
And this could be a breakthrough season for Michal Brezina.
I so picture the Olys podium with Gold - Plushenko (again), Silver - Lambiel (again) and the 3rd overrated skater with a bronze - Chan (because Buttle is retired).
Savchenko / Szolkowy crushed the pairs field with over 72 points. Zero mistakes in the program.
Tatiana and Stanislav have 59 points and are in second.

It's not required for a man to do a 3Axel in the SP. Obviously, it's preferred to do a triple to be the most competitive, but it's not mandatory that the Axel be a triple. A double (3.50 base) is acceptable, but a loss of 4.70 base value points from the triple (8.20 base).

Underlined pairs want to qualify for the Olympics (four spots available), fat skaters are major players.

Lambiel has been in that club for a while. It was one of the reasons why I sort of dreaded his comeback. What other man could get away with not having a reliable 3A? I wonder how he will be received at a bigger competition than this one.
Lambiel tech score was save by his high levels on footwork and spins; non- quad men shorts with 3A can score up to 47 (Kozuko)in the tech when max out. So Lambiel tech score of 38 is reasonable. I believe that his pcs may be inflated a couple of points or maybe he really performed that well. Welcom back.
