What?
Why are they training entirely different programs for the senior level?
The time is the same for the pairs short program, but there are different required elements for the lift, twist lift, throw jump and solo jump. In the free skate, the junior program is 30 seconds less and again, there are some differences in the required elements. I think 2 of the US teams are actually skating novice at the national level, so they have 4 programs they're training as well.

Sorry for my ignorance, but why can't Chau/Tanovich do JGP? Tanovich is 13 now, and Chau isn't 21 yet.
To meet the requirements for the 2009/2010 season, Tanovich would have had to turn 13 by July 1st. Her birthday is in August, so she was only 12 as of the deadline.

Yeah.. There has to be SOME way to fill a few more seats. I'd give away tickets for free before I let it be almost completely empty.

The seating for the Original Dance today is just as empty as the Compulsory was yesterday =__=
Surely the can do something about this, and like you said, maybe even give away free tickets

I think there are a few factors for not seeing a big crowd. First, school is back in session, so even though there are a number of skating clubs within an hour of Lake Placid, they wouldn't be able to attend until this afternoon or tomorrow. Secondly, Lake Placid is not the easiest destination to get too. And finally, there's the weather. In the northeast US, there haven't been very many warm, sunny days and for the most part, this whole week and the upcoming weekend are going to be beautiful. Unfortunately, I think that will keep a lot of people doing outside activities and not wanting to sit in a rink (even if they were offered free tickets as opposed to paying $7 or $8 dollars).

The Shibutanis currently have 90.44....coincidentally also the same CD + OD personal best score of Chock & Zuerlein from the 2009 Junior Worlds!

I'd say they're progressing quite well-- and its only the beginning of the season! :agree:

I would like to see shibutanis and ILINYKH and KATSALAPOV to compete in the same competition, hopefully at JGP finals and see how they perform. they two are class act of junior circuit this year and possibly battle for gold in senior circut in years to come

So, are Victoria Sinitsina and Valeriy Sinitsin siblings?

that will be an interesting family, isn't it. if they are siblings they are coached by two different people and and skate with different people.

Wow, a score of the Junior World champions last year and it's only the first event of the season!
Very different style than C/Z though. IMO, the Shibutanis have nicer flow and much more honesty to their skating.

Then again, I could just be biased.

And Tammi, you're right. Unfortunately I think there are too many factors against having a semi-decent crowd for this competition. You bring up some good points. I'm hoping that we will see crowds starting to come to more and more JGP events as the winter draws nearer.

Does anybody know what Taylor Firth scored? IN says she's currently in first. I just got home from classes and didn't get to see the first ten skaters.

Sorry, she was in the first group so I forgot her exact score, but it was around a 43.
