Look at the ice dance panel. There are only 8 judges, and 4 of them are from former SSRs. If the medals go to the two Russian teams and the Ukrainian team, then Routhier/Saucke Lacelle could miss out on the JGPF.

If two Russian teams and the Ukrainian team are better than R/SL on this particular competition then yes, the Canadian team could be out of the Final.
Please, chuckm, stop panic. Nothing has happened yet and you haven't seen three mentioned pairs this season - may be they are really doing better than Canadians and deserve to place higher.
I'm really disappointed to see such biased comments. And it's twice annoying when it's about nationality.

The Russian and Ukrainian teams don't necessarily have to perform better in order to be placed ahead of the Canadians. The SSR judges are all from the same geographic region with the same cultural background and will therefore have the same preferences. The French and Dutch judges are also more apt to favor European skaters.

Blah... blah... blah...

It's the beginning of the season! Party time! :party2::party: Olympic season! Think of something happy! Like all the folk dances we will see this season! This is figure skating, it's not supposed to make you so miserable and paranoid (well, paranoia is part of figure skating - but as I said, beginning of the season - you can be completely down and disenchanted at the end of March, after the evil Russians and other Europeans won every single medal there was to win, despite the fact that they all are barely better than the worst novice skaters in the USA and Canada).

chuckm, your statements about ex-USSR countries are absolutely naive, I'm really sorry. And kind of stereotypic too.

you have objections to Judges from SSR's and also judges from France and Holland, so what is your solution?. More judges from US; say from Alaska, North Carolina or New york to balance it out Or Judges from India or Kenya, who are yet to see snow or ice rink.

4 judges from 4 US states and 4 judges from 4 Canadian provinces would be fine. Why do we need Kenya and India?;)

I've thought of that, too. Maybe her parents are Portuguese (?). It would be so cool to have a Portuguese descendent skater! It would be even more cool if Portugal were part of the ISU!

Oi! Stéphane is also of Portuguese descent. So this skater wouldn't be the first one.

Jonathan Guererro, the russian ice dancer is part Portuguese as well. I hope to see some athletes representing Portugal as well.
