Huge score for the Sui/ Han, they will surely be a senior medal contender in couple of years. Simpson/ Miller in second place they still have a chance to qualify for the GPF. Novik/ Kuznetsov could only manage fourth place.

What a difference a year makes, last year Russian juniors were winning almost everything and this year its the event they are performing the worst. Hopefully some of the Russian pairs can get their acts together in time for World Juniors.

Baga's wins the gold medal and Maxwell qualifies for GPF, this results should ensure second grand prix event. What a performance from Sandy Hoffman she was 14th at US leg of the event.

    Short summary Ladies LP:

After being a nervous wreck yesterday home town girl Sandy Hofmann got the job done today, she was almost clean much to the delight of the audience .... without the mistakes yesterday she might have even medalled ... oh well

Agafonowa again skated to a piece of overdramatic music that she could not do justice, she was also not as solid with her jumps as yesterday.

Kiri Baga had a good skate but not with as much confidence as yesterday, still very lovely and lots of potential

The one that really rocked the house was Angela Maxwell, she was the only one staying consistently in her program and with her music. She went without hesitation into the jumps even though it meant that she would miss some.

Other skaters that caught my eye were Yretha Silete (elegant beauty) and Isabell Olson (powerful and good spring in jumps although strangely she would make mistakes on most of them).

Overall, it was a fairly well-skated event. The american girls were way ahead of everyone else in the presentation department but not necessarily in terms of jumps and spins.

Thanks for the summary Michaelk. US could have as many as 4 ladies in the GPF. Musademba, Baga and Gao or Kawamura could join Maxwell in GPF

Alessandrini / Vaturi qualifies to the GPF , but Antipova/Kudashev lost the bronze medal by 4 hundredth of a point , and that could be the margin by which they failed to make it to the grand prix finals. Gilles and Donohue are all but out of the running for GPF unless three grand prix winners perform disastrous routine in the next two competitions.

Last years ice dancing junior grand prix belonged to the americans this year Russians will probably win 5 out of 7 gold medals with Shibutanis winning the other two.

Sui/Han scores a huge score ;they are a class act. Hope Chinese can give them an entry at chinese grand prix. They are lot better than most senior teams and truly deserve a senior grand prix event.

The girl is too young to participate in senior grand prix

wow, that was remarkable! Two back to back solid competitions! Six PBs! They do can top so many senior pairs! Finally a superb future chinese pair! Their coach was Bin Yao's partner Bo Luan. I guess it's her turn now.

Yao is stubborn. He only cares about those pairs under his wings. Luan used to coach Ding/Ren, who won Jr. world title. But Ding/Ren got little chance when they went to the Sr. level even with a throw quad.I fear the same fate for S/H.

As long as I feel sorry for the early retirement of D/R in China, it is unfair to blame Yao in this case. D/R never won JR world title, They won JGPF once and was secod in JR world behind Z/Z in 2003. Durig their senior period, they were gave two GP spots each season, attended to 4CC, Asian Games and Winter Universiade. The only international game they missed was worlds and they actually not as good as the top three at that period.
I actully feel more sad about another Chinese team Li/Xu, They are retire now and the Chinese fed left one sopt in 2006 world's Pair because Zhao's injury, they could send Li/Xu to worlds that year and it was their only chance and they missed it, very sad.

Based on the most recent roster changes, I think Russia has played the game well and all but ensured that Antipova/Kudashev will be in the final (along with 3 other Russian dance teams). Unless, as you pointed out, something crazy happens.
