Wow!! I cannot wait till this Saturday. Go Paris!!!
Too bad that Sasha Cohen withdrew, I was looking forward to
seeing her compete again. Hopefully, she will recover and
participate in Skate America because I will be there.

(Please, if you have any tips on Lake placid, would you
reply to this thread? I would like to know
which hotel to stay at, and how I could maybe and possibly
run into some skaters. And yes, I will stay at the hotel
where Sasha Cohen, Yuna Kim, or Rachel stays at~~ )

So, I am so excited about the women's figure skating season begining
that I decided to make this thread. Some of women's programs
have been released and I watched just a lil ago.

Which lady's costume do you like so far?

I personally really really really liked Laura Lepisto's costume.
Oh boy, I thought she was gorgeous, but she just dresses so well.
( I thought her last season's costume was incredible as well.)
I love the red color, and it fits her so beautifully. Also,
she is just joyful to watch. I love her! (And doesn't she remind you
of Summer Glau a little bit? --she was the terminator sarah conor
chronicle cyborg chick.)

About Japanese Skaters... I am slightly questionable about
Ando Miki and Yukari Nakano's costumes........ I mean, Ando changed
her costume during the last season after some criticism, but
a spider on chest? hmmm
Mao's costume is more preferable definitely, but my
favorite costume of hers was her 2007 World FS costume. :) This season's costume's color is ok, and I like the skirt part, but I don't like the front
as much as the back.

Joannie Rochette!!! I do like her skating style~~~ :D
A strong skater, and she's unique.
I like her costume this season!!! I couldn't find a better quality picture, but
it looks 100000times better on TV. Go Joannie!!!

Yuna Kim's costume I heard was released today. wow. Just 2 days before
the competition! I do like it. It is not what I had imagined it to be
but it looks gorgeous, and she looks happy, so I am looking forward to her
007 bond girl!!! I think I like her revised version of costume much better though.
Also, I heard that her FS costume is blue, so if I find that pic, I will post it!

Anyway! Here are are some photos and videos I found on web!!

I mean, Ando changed her costume during the last season after some criticism

She didn't change her costume because of criticism. She changed her entire LP from "Giselle" to "Symphony no.4" because it turned out that her teammate Yukari Nakano picked exactly the same music for her LP. Miki thought it will be boring for the spectators if they have to watch 2 Giselles in a row. Anyway I don't see why should she be criticised for her costumes last season, LP costumes were gorgeous and SP costume was passable. I prefered the first version of her SP costume, the burgundy one she wore in summer shows, but reportedly it got destroyed during a show in Japan.

This season's costumes were MIki's idea. But she also told that she has a lot of dresses to pick from and she might change her costumes in future competitions.

The link does not work.

Most of them don't. ^^'

Hoa please, relax? You sound somewhat angry over one line? :chorus:
Perhaps I did not explain better, but I was only
briefly mentioning each skaters.
I do know that Miki changed her music because it overlapped with
Yukari's (or at least I assumed); however, it is true that her last season's costume was criticized by some American article. I remember reading it, and I do not remember
which one it was, but I guess if you really want to read it, I could google it up.
Also, I was not referring to her "Giselle" costume, I was referring to her
SP costume, the one with hot pink flower. I did not like it, and I guess obviously someone else did not like it either. I thought her 2007 World costumes were great, but that is just my personal taste.

Moreover, I don't know why the picture links aren't working, they
worked for me and now I think all of them are fixed! :)

I love Lepisto's dress, though I'm sure with her figure she'd look amazing in just about anything! Yuna's dress, as always, looks great and fitting for her James Bond program.

I like Mao's dress alot more than previous seasons....

Joannie's-- well, how do I say this...its a bit European ice dancerish.

Never been a fan of pantsuits on ladies in general.

Ummm... dude. Blaming someone for being mad as a come-back for disagreeing with you? Not cool.

Well, I was being slightly sarcastic because he/she sounded a little hostile to me
over one line or a couple of my photo links being broken, which I hav fixed. I don't think I was overly criticizing anyone over her costume, and perhaps that person could have responded a bit nicer I guess.

Anyway, I don't even see why we are arguing over Miki's last season's costume, I was only excited that the new season was starting and wanted to share our delighted feelings. :)

I was not angry, I simply stated that the links were not working (so you could see that it just wasn't atatime's problem) and pointed out that you have wrong info about Miki's costumes. I even added a smilie: ^^'
And, by the way, when I was writing my reply I saw only atatime's post. You must have replied when I was finishing to type my reply.

it is true that her last season's costume was criticized by some American article.
It would be difficult to find a costume that has not been criticized by someone... They also criticized Miki's and Mao's choreo, while European/Russian commentators were very positive. They critique everything that has anything to do with Russian choreographers/coaches. (ETA: At least the current ones... I miss Paul Wylie, and even Dick & Peggy. :( )

I was referring to her
SP costume, the one with hot pink flower. I did not like it, and I guess obviously someone else did not like it either.
But she did not change that costume..? She kept it through the entire season. She had a different costume in the summer shows, but it got ripped during a show. It had no hot pink flower on it and it has never been worn in competition. :)

I really wish that Mao would get rid of the clunky chokers. She is so tiny, and they really overpower her...

I love Joannie in that color blue but I don't like the cut so much.

yeah. I think she could do much better. It reminds me slightly of that horrid pale blue thing Kimmie wore for "The Feeling Begins." Who said that pale blue was middle eastern?

If only Miki would lose the literal taranchula on her breast, the cosume would work for me. I like the cobweb design and the color and the rest of the details as well.

If only Mao would change the color of her costume from black/blue to snow white/blue. I like the back design in particular but the overall color is just too overpowering.

I think the top part of Yukari's outfit suits her colorwise, but I don't think she should be wearing a black bottom. She's got such a pretty as a picture look, she should wear a skirt,

Laura Lepisto's dress is lovely and makes her look sooo beautifully alluring and classy.

Joannie's dress is not to my preference. It seems to accentuates her stocky build.

Yuna's dress is nice, I think, but is not full out sexy as I had expected. (Her LP program dress reminds me of Tara Linpski's Olympic dress, which was/is pretty good.)

Caroline's SP dress is beautiful (its different than the one she wore at Golden West). The design (black and red) really lengthens her legs and overall line. I love her new look!

So far, I really love Yuna's SP costume. The makeup also suited the theme so well.

I also find the deep blue LP costume nice on her. I liked her both costumes last year better than this blue one, but this is nice. She may want to try more subtle eye makeup for this one.

I also like Yukari's pants. I love her in pants and dance to sharp music, rather than trying to be a ballerina. I love both programs. Although I do not like the handkerchief of her SP costume, I like the colors. If they can cut those two handkerchiefs, it will be perfect. I also love the way she knows how to wear makeup.

Although Kiira is such a beauty, I do not find her costumes very nice. This year, the neon bright yellow-green costume for her SP ruined her shiny blond hair.

Unlike many other people, I am fine with Mao's SP costume, her makeup, and lovely smile. Although her costume could be more modern and fashionable, the colors and fluffy materials at least go well with her angelic looks and airy-fair skate. But these just do not fit with the music. That's the problem. To me, her Chopin Nocturne costume was by far the best. It was airy-fair and elegant at the same time. Not too girlish, but not too uninterestingly mature.
Her deep-in-the-night costume was also lovely.

Regarding her LP costumes, I am only hoping something that does not overpower her. I read elsewhere that they prepared 6 costumes. I hope for the next one.

Chopin is Mao's legendary program seriously. (To me, it's much better than
claire de lune, too).
