I really like P/B, but that program is a bit too voidy for my taste...
What's the concept behind it ?(I mean, beyond the clock)

Péchalat: For our free dance, it is actually more of a program to watch than to talk about. The theme is time, and we have turned it into a fantastic tale. It is just like if Alice [in Wonderland] had grown up, and was now falling into Tim Burton's universe.

Bourzat: Nathalie falls asleep by a big clock, which I am figuring. Then she takes me into her dreams and dances with me. Sometimes it is human, sometimes it is mechanical.

Péchalat: Time is our ally, but sometimes it turns back against us. It is not the least intellectual, though, and our program is very visual. Both programs this year are fully readable and accessible to everyone. Also they should be easier to evaluate, as they include many elements and components that are expected from dance pairs.

Bourzat: And then Nathalie goes back to fall asleep against the clock.

not a big fan of the music, but not bad either, nice, romantic, goes perfectly with their outfits. Obviously into 1st place. Btw, I love the move wherein Tessa is balancing hands free on top of her partner's back & then lights jumps off. :)

p.s. can't wait to see what the other couples have to offer during the season as well!!!!!!!

V/M have a beautiful program. Still, same old ahhhh rooomaantic feel... and I still can't get passed the idea of romantic Mahler.

Beautiful program from V/M. Scott wasn't quite over his blades - bit of trouble with the first lift. Don't know what the two deductions were for.

Warm-Up Group 2

Kimberly NAVARRO / Brent BOMMENTRE USA 72.93 (one deduction)
FD-"One" by U2 and Mary J. Blige

He's in a black onessie with silver, she in a dress half white and half black vertically.

That was pleasant-one problem with unison at the end, but otherwise great commitment
to the program. Opened with twizzles. Not perfect but not bad. However, not much in
the way of uniqueness in the choreo IMO. I liked it anyway.

Judges put them behind Rubleva overall.

Emily SAMUELSON / Evan BATES USA 80.41
FD -"Canto Della Terra" by Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli

Purple dress with choker neckline and very raggy lace bottom. Some work needed on it.
He has a long sleeved dark purple T shirt and practice pants.

He hydroblade, holding her straight up by her leg in Biellmann

Nice twizzles
Other lifts
he does split jump
They do a side by side half jump that was cute
Much better spin than they have had in the past

They still deserve a program up to their talents. This is not it.
However, they should definitely take the lead with this.

They do, but 2nd in the FD to Rubleva.

Sinead KERR / John KERR GBR 86.25
FD-Krwing (Linkin Park)

John-black shortsleeve T and jeans
Sinead-Angel in raggy white

smooth spin both directions, some nice positions and speed
Typical across the knee horizontal lift.
Sinead does a single rev jump into him nice.
Both lie back on each other
F/w in holds then separating. squats in it.
Handstand on his lift into rotational very fast turns
Twizzles. Held it mostly together. AFAICT
Reverse lift of John by Sinead
They each hold the other's leg in a Y.
Very quiet ending.

Nice. It was in a lot better practice shape than their OD.

Nathalie PECHALAT / Fabian BOURZAT FRA 89.77
FD-Kika (Ez3kiel) & Time (Maxime Rodriguez)

Tick tock, he's a clock. One hand on his face, one on his hand
Cogs on his shirt. Roman numerals on the belt
She yellow raggy skirt blue camisole top.
Opens with the spin.
Lift with odd positions
F/w smooth
Nice kick out of the twizzle in that F/w
He steps over her a little awkward. He sort of stumbles over her a bit.
Lot of unsteadiness by Fabian on one foot in this lift's start
That lying back S/L lift again. She does a jump turn to get into it, which is nice.
flailing clock hands
some slight unison breaks in this last fast part
twizzles not quite right somehow
He cartwheels supported by her
Clock choreo to end (his hands at midnight)
This will be better at the end of the year, but I'm not quite feeling it yet. However, I think their
skills got the levels Kerrs may not have gotten.
They seem happy with it.
And they will definitely get the silver medal.

Tessa VIRTUE / Scott MOIR CAN 97.39 with 2 deductions
FD-Mahler's Symphony No 5.

Scott in white shirt and pants
Tessa in white calf length dress. Well it's not black :) with a lacy top. Sort of a wedding dress
effect.
Some lovely moves to start.
The spin had some nice positions, particularly one with Tessa leaning way back while onScott's
knee.

Scott has a tiny bobble on the one leg balance in the first lift
Scott a little wiggly first twizzle. Second set gorgeous.
They do the Tessa balance jump down lift. She lands on 2 feet.
Lovely positions by Tessa in this rotational lift after some great F/w, but her dress gets
stuck with her panties showing.

that no hand lift, when Tessa jumps off of Scott's back, she lands on her 2 feet. Could that be seen as a mistake?

Kerrs brought the contemporary/modern touch

P/B brought the voids

V/M brought pure class.

I liked them all quite a bit! They each have work to do, you can tell this is early season.. but I like icedance competitions like this where there is this kind of variety, all well done.

101 things going on, finally back! :)

I just wanted to say that I honestly think it's time that Evan & Emily went to the next step, and that includes an American choreographer. They have the goods, they just need the right program, choreography, et al. JMHO.

Tessa looked lovely... Almost like a bride.. They are both beatiful on ice, some great elements, but I am not convinced about music.. And the ending was a bit strange. Nevertheless, strong 1st place.
