    Hey Spun Silver -

If I remember correctly, yuna got no credit (0 points) for her last spin because she repeated it earlier in the program. I want to say that she had a similar spin right before the step sequence, if my memory is correct.

Can anyone verify? I'm pretty sure this is what happened.

Remember also that Mao here got second place, while at the Worlds she finished off the podium, because of Joannie Rochette and Miki Ando. They didn't participate here. That's where the margin comes from.

I DON'T say that Mao is bad, I like her very much. But her program is still not executed perfectly, both SP and LP.

Where did you hear ethat she's very arrogant? I only heard that she
is sweet and polite... everyone who knows her has said so including johnny weir, adam rippon, patrick chan, michelle kwan, etc... ?

AFAIK, Yuna is not doing a flip combo in this program. Her flip is being done as a single jump (like in her SP). She is doing a 3L + 3T this season. Btw, it looked spectacular to me, as good as the best guys are doing

Everyone basically had inflated scores at worlds last year, so it's not really a good example to go by.

Wow, I just watched Yu-na's LP. Her jumps were great, but her skating was just not exciting. Her spins are slow and unpolished. I am not seeing very much improvement since last year!

Daniel, I don't think any one is being rude. Fans always question judges. (We don't have the opportunity to talk to them in person.) Judges make mistakes too. And reputation judging is real.
It was both Rachael and Yu-na. Look, maybe Yu-na's PCS were to much, but I don't think Mao deserved 60 PCS for that program either.. I think Yu-na absolutely deserved to win by the margin she won by even with the no flip. I'm willing to bet Mao had some downgrades....

    This LP. Wow, how unpredictable.
So Yuna breaks another record, and Mao's still struggling.
    Didn't see that coming.

Now, I'm most concerned about CaroZ.
Really, her bizarre techniques and lack of speed are even more glaring now that she's grown up!
Youth and immaturity can't be an excuse any more.

I know that Nadine is very excited about her potential, and so was I.
But after watching this event, Ay ya ya ya ya ya....
And I'm sure if those were simple fixes, they would've been done already.

I don't think she will somehow find a way to skate faster and correct that awful AWFUL kick before the Nationals.
(from one camera angle, her cr**ch said picaboo.)
And I think the Paris judges have sent her a loud and clear message, too.

    ina bauer into the 2-2-2
    spread eagle into the 2A-3F
3Z integrated seamlessly between her footwork sequences
2A coming straight out of her second footwork sequence
FSSp straight out of the 2A

Okay, after rewatching the program and taking note of the detailed, interesting transitions that this team worked into the choreo, I understand the astronomical PCS. They really worked to develop the cohesiveness of the technicality and the artistry - upon rewatching, it's really the most interesting program I've seen.

I think though that some aspects of Yu-na's skating aren't noticable on the computer screen. For example Kim skates with a lot of speed. As for her spins, I doubt she got high GOE for her spins just credit for them.

I'm sure she got huge GOE for her jumps though because she had a ton of transitions going in and out of them. Someone said that's the most packed transition program from a lady since Arakawa's 2004-2005 program. And Kim actually skated it well, something Arakawa never managed to do with her program.

Also a very good point. Remember the general range of scores from worlds. It might not even be that scores are being inflated. The judging standards may have very well changed, so that the average score (if I'm phrasing this correctly) increases. There's a different "standard" every year.

At this point, yuna just needs to maintain her drive and really learn to "skate" her programs even more than she's doing now (even though she's pretty darn good right now).

I feel for Mao. Imagine how heart-broken she must feel about her latest placements. I wish her the best of luck. If no coaching change, at least some changes to her program/jump layout.

Alexe Gilles shows a lot of promise, but Caroline is a bit dry for me. I really don't like her jumps but you have to give her credit for those spins.

I hope Yukari pulls it together by the end of the season like she always does. She has a lot of potential despite her wrapped jumps. Her spins are SO centered and fast too.

Hopefully this is a hint for Mao to dump TAT and get back to Machiko Yamada.

Kim was good - but not as good as a WR would indicate, IMO.

Zhang was horrific. No interpretation, the jumps were awful, and she was SO SLOW! She got negative GOE for every single jump she did. If that isn't a hint, I don't know what is.

To me her score makes sense. It's just a simple math; at Worlds, she received 132 and change for her free even she received 1. some points for the last two elements. If she completed these two elements, which were a Salchow and and a spin, at least she would have received 6 points more than what she ended up with. Now, at this event she missed a flip but the base score of that element is less then the combined score of the two elements she missed at the Worlds. She also improved entries into and exits out of jumps. Besides, she didn't receive a high GOE for her first triple combo last season but now she changed it to 3Lz-3T and is getting +2 GOE for it. The result is a score a bit higher than the last year's record.
