I like the variety of music by all contestants.

I would like to see Weaver and Poje get better scores.

Mahler's music is so deep but only V/M could handle that.

Hubble and Hubble have not yet reached the inner sanctum of the judges.

Not fond of Samuelson and Bates.

Pechalat/Bourzat are a bit over the top for my taste.

Frederica/Massimo long time fave of mine.

It seems to be an EZ ride for V/M, so who will be silver and bronze?

    Whither the Silver

It's a good question. My guess is, P&B, because their program has had far more room to improve, and far more time (as TEB was the first GP event) for the improvements to be made than F&S's, who skated their programs about as well as they could be skated at CoC.

Also, if P&B place second, Kerrs go to the GPF, which would make me happy! so I am not totally objective.

I hope P&B will have gone back to something closer to the French Master's version of their FD program--the choreo made more sense than the TEB version, plus more Requiem for a Dream happens by chance to be an overused piece of music this season, so adding it was destructive to their program.

I've never been a fan of F&S, mostly because they seem to me to be primarily a team that has truly mastered repackaging. If you do something very close to the same thing for several seasons (as far as the elements go), it ought to look very smooth (which they do, other than the OTT facial stuff, which I dislike).

This repackaging is particularly evident in the OD where they are doing something very close to their 2007/2008 OD, another relatively obscure regional tarantella (Salerno pizzica). And neither OD (this one or the 2007 one) has any of the stomp out the spiders clogging that a true tarantella has.

Here's the Neapolitan version of the tarantella that they are supposed to be portraying. And indeed, you can see that F&S have great authentick costuming and music--and they are not doing the tarantella. This is F&S all over, to me.

    Hermanns

I just tuned in and saw the Hermanns-I love their pair spin, both the interesting positions and the way they get into it. Now if only Hey Pachuco wasn't one of the cuts they were using, and if they had a little speed! Twizzles were fine, BTW.

    Score: 73.54 Season's best Total 141.61

    Hubbells

Madison in a blue bra and panties, Kieffer in white shirt, black pants.
    American Woman+Lenny Kravitz
I've wantd someone to dance to Fly Away for a long time-but I sure wouldn't have used it for the twizzles and the pair spin. That tune calls for a lift!

Kieffer trips on the first twizzle set. The lift where they're both stretched out flat, he got stuck, and they came out kind of awkwardly.

    Score 70.00 Total 141.63
    Into first.

    Hermanns wuzrobbed.

    Bobrova Soloviev

    FD Adagio by Tomaso Albinoni
They're in black and silver. Costumes look great while posing, in motion, not so much.

She has awkward black tights with a flair over the boot. For beautiful long leggedly people, that was rather awkward.

The raggy skirt did nothing to help their look either.

    Twizzles way out of sequence.

She has very angsty facial expressions.

Noncounting lift very awkward at the end.

    Score 75.67 Seasons best
    Total 161.68 into first

Score is 85.67 not 75.67, a PB free skate score. Overall Hubbells beat Hermanns by 2 hundredth of a point

S/B have to leave Tchesnitchenko/Netchaeva. ASAP. At least for choreography.
They are a very good team and deserve better.

Samuelson/Bates: I love their curve lift and the non-counting lift, as well as that little hop in their second step sequence. He's wearing less purple this time. Couple stumbles, but nothing major.

Skate Canada really does look cheap stinting on chairs in the KnC, though.

B/S are still in the lead. Were they good? I didn't see their performance.

I thought it was very good. And Emily had some stumbles throughout. The score seems fair to me...
