Plush ain't looking very healthy. I am not sure he is going to make it to Vancouver if he keep going like this.
Why black gloves? (Borodulin)
Okay what exactly did plushenko do to get that kind of score? I think all the judges suceeded in was making theselves look like groupies. I mean honestly. Do scores at nationals mean anything anymore is it just a lovefest for the favorites?
The scores are inflated across the board. Borodulin just got 84 points.
To be fair, it has been that way for a long time. I remember there was one season when Michelle Kwan fell *twice* during her program at US Nationals, at the time when falls, under 6.0, were treated as serious flaws in a performance. The ISU, after Urmanov won the Olys, issued some sort of proclamation that from then on, skaters were not to be scored on what they attempted, but only on moves they actually completed. The judges at US Nats gave Michelle the gold anyway, and gave Sasha Cohen the silver, even though Sasha's program was cleaner than Michelle's. That season, Michelle won for USFS at Worlds, so their decision seemed smart, whether fair or not. I think the federations try to score generously the one(s) who are expected to do best, based on their history, at Worlds and other major international competitions. For one thing, the high scores and medals at home, do seem to add to the skaters' status when they appear before the international judges.
So right, so right. Nationals would be
more fun if they were realistic. Remember whe Sasha got into the 190's at nationals 2006 dispute neither program being perfect? Honestly.
wow ... Voronov is just 4.5 points behind plushenko so he can still win this... umhhh.
Excellent skate from Voronov. 95.64 into second.
