Very interesting. We thought she might change her mind about quitting after Vancouver now that she is healthy and pretty much unbeatable. It does not surprise me so much that she would try for another world title after the olympics, but it remains to be said if she will come back next season. Yu-na had said she would quit after 2010 win or lose, but that was back when she was having a lot of pain from her injuries and was not taking over the world as she is now. Not to mention the pressure she must be getting from the Korean federation to stay. At this point I would not be at all surprised to see her stay on for Sochi, granted that she stays healthy.

Thais Mediation is great music for her, rather strange for an exhibition, but so much better than the mediocre pop songs she usually skates to.

Yu-Na has never said she would quit after the Olympics. That was merely a rumor.

Thanks for the updates. I love watching Yuna skate and am very happy she will have a new exhibition piece as "Please Don't Stop The Music" is about the only thing Yuna ever skated to that I really didn't like so much. But it was more about not liking the song.

she might be wanting to go to worlds but if she wins the olympics the interviews, television appearances etc. will probably take over training time that I doubt if she wins she will go to Torino... unless she really decides to quit and wants another world title before doing so.

I think she will go to Worlds if she wins in Vancouver, but I think that will be it for her. There just isn't much reason for her to continue competing.

So Yuna's running, I bet she's good at that too, I wonder if there's anything that girl is bad at.

And I agree, unless she doesn't win the Olympics I think she will be done after this upcoming worlds. Even if she doesn't win the Olympics (which I don't see happening) she will probably stop.

I have heard from multiple sources that she just wants to be normal and able to have a social life, go shopping with friends, have a boyfriend, go to college. She's 19 now and the best skater out there, if she wins, there's nowhere for her to go but down. She really does not seem to love all the fame and attention.

I don't know, she seems to be enjoying the fame and attention. If not enjoying, then at least just feeling mutual about it. Being Korean, I watch a lot of Korean TV and she's all over the place. On variety shows and things like that, she has a really personality, laughing a lot and joking around even though she wasn't like that before when she first burst onto the scene.

You are probably right, that she has become more outgoing. She used to seem VERY shy when she first went to work with Orser when she was like, what, 15? Think that's how old she was. Anyways she might have learned how to love the attention because she knows it's not going away any time soon but it must be an awful lot of pressure that has been put on her, i'm amazed by how well she consistently performs

I don't want to sound mean cos I absolutely love Yuna and her skating but galas are supposed to be entertaining and fun and not serious in competition sense. I thought she had the right idea with her current exhibition number 'don't stop the music' and it was the best ex I've seen from her (although I totally dislike the song). Now she's going back to nice soft music which she could've easily used for a competitive programme. I wish skaters would appreciate what galas are supposed to be about and maybe watch some Plushy, Candeloro, Slutskaya, Cohen or the likes to see how it should be done.

Actually, Meditation from Thais does not have to be serious:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=da8HEwnKBu8

Not that I expect Yuna to do a Kurt Browning version!

I actually don't like Yuna's "Don't stop the Music" gala too much. Maybe it's just the song. So Meditation from Thais should at least be an improvement. Maybe she wants to do a beautiful exhibition at the Olympics.

Maybe she wants to do a beautiful exhibition at the Olympics.

I'm pretty sure that must be the motive for the change. I just don't think being 'swanlike' is a must to show a good gala..:laugh:
I guess Mao will always be on top when it comes to galas at least. ;)

PS: Sorry for forgetting to mention Kurt in that superb gala performers list. Respect..

Those banners are so cool!

Can someone tell me how can I do a banner like the one on photo 15? Like what programs should I use, etc. Thanks!

Personally, rolling across the ice like that is a little too much IMO. Her jumping looks very awkward and she doesn't really have good technique there. But other than that, she seems very artistic and seems to take the "ballerina" interpretation to ice skating pretty literally.

I think Oksana is still the standard for "ballerinas on the ice."

Her carriage and positions are lovely. Not many skaters today can match them.

This clip was from a Pro cheesefest and not like falling at Worlds.

I am sure Yuna will come up with a beautiful program to "Meditation." I think it will be a welcome change after that "PDSTM" program which is cheesy even by cheesefest standards. ;)
