Orser back in Olympic spotlight as mentor to young skater Hopes Kim Yu-Na will benefit from his Olympic experience
"Our careers have been so similar," he says of Kim. "The one thing I can share with her is I've been there. I can say to her, `I know what you're feeling,' and she knows that I really do. ....
That is a very nice article, adoreyuna. I really like Brian Orser's personality. He seems to be a humble person and he handled his huge Olympic disappoinment very well. He did not let it influence the rest of his life.
I think that Yuna is very fortunate to be coached by Brian Orser in the Olympic season. I remember him mentioning in one of his interviews that in 1988 he lost gold because he spent too much time preparing himself mentally for the Olympics and because of that he didn't really think too much about improving his technical skills. He only praticed to not let them deteriorate. The outcome was of course not good, but from his comments it seems obvious that he learned his lesson and will not let Yuna to make the same mistakes. Aditionally, the fact that he knew how to prepare himself mentally makes me think that he also knows how to prepare mentally Yuna for her Olympic Games. And the above article seems to confirm that.
"You've got to be competitive. You've got to be fierce. When she carried the torch in Hamilton, I knew it. All I had to do was look at the picture of her, and the look in her eyes told me. She gets it."
And since this is Yuna News thread I want to post some Yuna links.
Here are her pictures made for Nike:

From all her commercials that I saw in the last few years I think I like the above ones the most.
S.Korea's Kim gearing up for Olympic figure skating
The expectation is that Kim, like her coach, will claim an Olympic medal but Orser says she will not be following in his footsteps when it comes to carrying her nation's flag in the opening ceremonies on February 12.....
Kwan says South Korea's Kim Yu-na strong role model for next generation of Asian skaters
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Five-time world champion Michelle Kwan believes South Korean Kim Yu-na, one of the favorites for the Vancouver Olympics, is an influential role model for future figure skaters from the Asian nation.
Kim Yu-na, the favourite for the gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, is blazing a trail in a nation better known for its speed skating success.
At a recent practice in Toronto, where Kim has been training for three years, the five-foot-five-inch (1.65-metre), 103-pound (48-kg) figure skater said she felt the pressure entering her first Olympics with the hopes of a nation resting on her shoulders.

It's reported that Yu-Na donated about US$90,000 to UNICEF Korea for earth quake victims of Haiti. She has donated nearly US$3M for the last two years including this one.
