I totally agree with you.Also, it's unlikely that Yuna will make major mistakes. Sorry if I was not clear enough, but the scenario I am referring to is if Yuna skates well but a Japanese skater also skates well, yet the Japanese skater wins, then the likely outcome will definitey play out. Seriously, the main point Philip Hersh is trying to get at is that the Japanese skating federation and ISU may be having backdoor deals. That is at the core of his conspiracy theory, so it would not be surprising if Yuna's fans lash at the Japanese skaters if they win the event for whatever reason.
LOL! Let's get the facts straight. Not even considering whether or not UR call was deserving under the rules, the judging was questionable because no other contender received DG by the same lady for a jump with equal/similar UR as Yuna's. If you're going do apply a certain standard, you should apply it uniformly to everyone else competing, or else there is an appearance of impropriety.

If Yuna doesn't do the 3-3 or has some baubles and Mao has two great programs and does her three 3a's and Miki skates great and does her 3-3, then if Miki or Mao (or both) were to beat Yuna that would be fine.
BUT
If Yuna has a beautiful performance with her 3-3, gets bogus UR or edge calls for one/both of them, Mao ditches the second 3a in the long and does 2a-2t instead, and Miki doesn't do the 3-3 or 2a-3t, and Miki and/or Mao still beat Yuna then I will be mad. Very mad.
The two scenarios mentioned above are very different.
The main thing that I don't like about Hersh's article is the fact that he has to link the whole Cinquanta situation to the talks of alleged deals between ISU and the Japanese skating federation. Assumptions that he found on messageboards. He's just adding fuel to the fire. But just assume that this can be true. Isn't it silly on the part of the ISU to stack the decks against Yuna when her winning the gold will provide more long term benefits for the committee?

The new scoring system doesn't prevent scandalous judging; it just makes scandalous judging a more complicated matter IMAO.
Noo Yuna don't go! It would be stupid. We know from last year she gets super stressed competing in Korea....if she wins and is amazing everyone will go crazy and she would have won yet another competition this season and there will be more pressure on her at the Olympics, and if she makes mistakes the media won't shut up about it and it could cause her to develop a mental block over a certain jump for no reason (like her 3flip this season which is gorgeous and the best out there). So yeah, she's much better off not going.
There are also others who doesn't want to hear some people screaming 'favoritism' on yuna's victory.And please, DO NOT make falsified generalization.
