Why is she in first place? Her chreo, skating skills etc are not sufficient to hold her up.


Because the Japanese federation still loves her to death. She is retiring after this season so maybe it was a goodbye gift? I still do love her skating skills though.. She lost her speed and jumps over time but still her skating skill is up there..

Looks like Mao landed all her jumps!

On the results page her score is 69.12

I hope this is not true, as it would mean that even with the Nationals bonus she would still be 3 points behind Yu-na's best. Even with the triple axel.

I don't think it would be that high with a downgrade. Maybe she did not get the levels on the footwork and spirals. She mentioned shortening the footwork, so maybe that took it down a level or two. Or else maybe she lost some GOE points somewhere.
At least she landed it all.

You might be right. or maybe her 2toe was downgraded?
