Another question would be: you mean just figure skating right? Not just general skating since that would include all the speed events for which you would need to add countries like Netherlands.

I meant figure skating, yes... I admittedly have zero knowledge about speed skating although I do like to try and watch a bit of it at very Olympics - it is exciting!

I voted Russia. I'm presuming it will come to pass that Plushy, Dom/Shabs, and one of the pairs (prob K/S) will end up on podiums regardless. I note this poll didn't say "..most skating medals at the Olympics that will actually be deserved.." That special Russki predestiny...

japan.... considering the way she's scored, I don't see Akiko medaling unless three of yuna, mao, miki, caro, and rochette bomb. despite being a big mao fan, i can also expect mao not medaling as she still seems to be in slump despite the positive attitude and great comeback. miki would stay on her feet. dai may not stay on his feet in his LP. oda may bomb after a failed attempt on the quad. so say japan 2 at most (either miki or mao & either oda or dai) and my money is on miki getting silver.

canada... v/m. but singles may not be very good. rochette would be still vulnerable. so would chan.

I think Mao is half way out of her slump. She is not all the way, but getting there. I think she has about the same chance as Miki, because her 4CC score is higher than two of Miki's GP scores. And both of them were not at their best. Mao's problem still lies with her SP. However, I am not sure if changing her layout is actually good for Miki since she may not have that much time to practice and she also tends to get URs. Therefore, I think the chances between the two are about even. Rochette may benefit from home turb or she may crumble. With that said, I think Japan has the best chance of winning the most medals.

I voted to Russia.
Not because of my likes, but because I'm watching figure skating since 1970.....
Plushenko can have a deserved medal, one of the pairs and one of the dance couples will GET it :( by the Russian, Armenian, Azerbajdian,Ukrainian AND French (!!) plus Japanese (Russian coaches for Japan!!) judges. I'm affraid so.
