I'm one that couldn't take or leave her, I'd just rather not talk about her lol... poor sportsmanship should never be tolerated. But then I was raised with an old school mindset, so what do I know. *shrugs*

Love Surya Bonaly's backflip to a one foot landing

A shoutout should be given to Terry Kubicka, who landed the first (and only legal) backflip in amateur competition.

Agreed! I think Rory Flack Burghart's is definitely one worth mentioning as well. It's huge!

I love the way Scott gushes about him in his book

My vote is Shawn Sawyer - who was not on the list - although Brian Orser is tops on my list, Shawn Sawyer is so flexible he makes everything look easy.

Ya know... I get where you're coming from but on the other hand - Surya always reminds me of Wicked...Its hard to judge her when you look at the totality of her career and how many times she was held down...I'm not surprised she finally snapped. Plus, I love a Diva

Same! There was always something about her that I really, really loved. I know none of us should be like YEAH! BAD SPORTSMANSHIP! but that backflip at the Olympics was a very special moment IMO. Girl is still performing as well as ever in shows and tours!

Exactly! And she already knew she wasn't going to win and that it was her last competition... flip away!

I'm glad someone mentioned Rory Flack Burghardt. I once got to see her live. Her backflip was tremendously exciting, because she's rather tall for a skater (or looks tall), and elegant. If I recall correctly, she was another one who could land the flip one-footed.

Am I dreaming, or did Robin Cousins do a backflip? He was always one of my favorite skaters: so stylish, musical, and strong.

For me, this is a toss-up between Scott and Surya. Did anyone else besides Surya land it on one foot?
