You can only vote for one skater in this poll, so my #1 favorite (and all time favorite lady) is Midori!

    other favorites - Yuka, Fumie
for the men - Takahiko Kozuka (love his style, and he's so cute, too ), and Takeshi

I chose Mao Asada because I think she is the quintesential ladie right now in the field...she simple has everything....The only Japanese lady that comes close is Shizuka Arakawa.

If I had to choose a Japanese man, I would choose Takahiko Kozuka too!!! He is really really really cute and he is my age, so that is always a plus

My favorite Japanese skaters are Yuzuru Hanyu and Oda. Oda's jumps are really beautiful and effortless. Hanyu's skating is adorable and he is quite a jumper himself.

Wow... that was so unbelievably hard. I was torn between so many skaters, but in the end voted for Takahashi. What a field Japan has

Too bad there isn't an "too many to name" option. Anyway, Fumie gets my vote.

yuka, yuka, yuka who can skate like yuka? shizzle is a japanese goddess while Mao is incredible and can jump those axels. The three best, all different. But no one is as pure as Sato.

Some of the nominees are good - some simply average - some forgetable . To these voters, it is obvious the latest is the greatest. As for Sato Yuka = completely OVER-RATED. And she is more gaijin than Nihon-jin. There is only one revolutionary, trail-blazer and genuine living legend ! Without her,no one would have ever heard of ANY of these people. And what is up without Yaganuma Junko being a nominee???

I always like Junko Yaganuma! But Midori is the one for me in ladies skating-in fact she's my best of all time ladies' skater, without reference to nationality. In men's skating, I think I would have added Minoru Sano, who is the first skater from Japan that I recall medalling at Worlds (Tokyo, 1977).

Daisuke is a deserved candidate from the men's side, as the first men's champion from Japan. And his recovery from injury is very inspiring. I loved his LP this year, especially.
