Poor Caroline has to skate last. :(
Also feeling a bit sorry for Amanda Dobbs who has to skate after Akiko.

I hope Caroline and Mao medal though 'cause of their lackluster seasons...

    Hoping:
    1. Mao Asada
    2. Akiko Suzuki
    3.Caroline Zhang

I have a feeling that Amanda Dobbs is going to medal here... just a hunch. I really don't expect Caroline to ace the FS... I could wish for that but she still won't.

I still expect Mao to win this as FS is her strong suite but a consistent Suzuki could top a erratic Mao here. Hope Mao will have a good FS.

I love Amanda, but unfortunately, she has only 3T, 3S and 3Lo, so her TES is bound to lag behind the other top ladies. Amanda must skate squeaky clean and the other top ladies must make multiple mistakes for her to make the podium.

Hoping for the best but am prepared to be disappointed.

I will predit the elephant in the room: Akiko beats Mao narrowly with a clean freeskate. Mao falls on a triple Axel and gets some downgrades.

For Amanda, it is a great opportunity. Last competitive skate of the season for her. Everything to gain, nothing to lose. No pressure. An audience that will be excited by Akiko. I too think she will do a great skate and even without the higher triples can medal. I hope so.

    Grade of Execution.
    http://mkforum.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7277

All technical elements receive a GOE score from the judges ranging from -3 (done very poorly) to 0 (done adequately) to +3 (done exceptionally well). The criteria for GOE depends on the element. A GOE of 0 means the element received its base value. Though the ranking of GOE can be -3 to +3, depending upon the base value of the element, the bonus or deduction for GOE can be anywhere from 0.3 to 1.0 for each + or - accumulated. Any positive or negative skills demonstrated are cumulative within the GOE. For instance, a lutz jump done with an unexpected take-off, and good technique on all four phases of the jump is considered +2 (for example) but the skater flutz'ed the jump, which is -1. This would give the skater +1 GOE overall. The sole exception to this is a fall on a jump, which is an instantaneous -3 GOE on the element regardless of any other positive qualities in the jump. Following the breakdowns of the Technical Elements in the following section I list a few examples of ways the skater may receive positive or negative GOE. They are not a complete list, but merely there for quick reference.

On any given judging panel, the computer randomly selects 7 or 9 of the judges (depending upon how many judges are on the panel) as the marks that will count in the actual points given. Out of these the highest and lowest of the marks will be thrown out and the remaining ones averaged out to give a GOE number. Sometimes the GOE is a clear cut +1.0. Sometimes it can be miniscule such as a -0.04.

I agree with this. Akiko wins as Mao continues to Moby Dick herself with the 3As.

AFA I can get from her practice video, she does not seem to really "have" 3A. Yes, she lands them consistently. But she either URs or two-foots a lot. Even a person with untrained, possibly biased eyes like me (I am a fan) can see them clearly without slow-mo. I also have an impression that she is not totally aware of it, as she says that the condition of 3A is good and that she did it in the same way at SP as she does in practice. I wish Mao has a coach who can say something about it and help make a decision.

Well this exactly described Mao's season so far. A safe prediction unfortunately.
