Song Gao is 22 years old. His last appearance on the international scene was in 2002, when he won the bronze medal at 4 Continents, and finished 16th at Worlds. In 2000, he won the Junior Grand Prix Final championship.
The details of the scores are unbelievable! Gao's TCS would have put him in 9thplace!!! In TES, though, he was 4.5 points ahead of Tim! Looking at the specifics of TCS is interesting, though. The judges DID give him relatively high marks for SS, which makes sense for a skater who apparently did all those elements. It's in other places, especially IN, that his marks are really low. Than again, in IN it's Joubert who wins which makes a lot of sense to me. Even Joubert's mark for IN, though, is 6.75 -- a far cry from what we have seen in SA and SC. Can't wait to read reports!
So, who's got Gao in the GP "Gold Picks" contest?

Um......yes. Well, its good the new system is putting skaters like him on the podium , but not when it means Brian Joubert is off the podium
