Does anyone know who the tech specialist was in the ladies competition? I know sometimes its usually a former competitive skater, but Scott was going on and on and on about how strict she is (and she was), so I was wondering if anyone knew.

Myriam Loriol-Oberwiler. Infamous for downgrading Yu-Na at GPF and giving her an edge call at another competition.

I don't think she was strict this time around. Most jumps which were borderline were ratified. I guess that's the Olympics for you.

Btw, I guess after the infamous 3-3 call at GPF and her flip !, I guess Loriol-Oberwiler isn't so bad. =P

She did still get plenty of her downgrades in though....there were quite a few. Mao got one on her 3F and Rachael got them on both her 3Fs. And a bunch of DG on the second and third jumps of combos.

And deservedly so, Asada's UR 3flip in the LP could have been caught by ANYBODY. I'm still  why she wasn't DG on the 2toe end of her 3Axel combination in the SP.

Rachael got them on both her 3Fs.

Flatt's downgrades were very much like Nagasu's downgrades at Nationals. You would have needed SUPER slow-motion to detect them in her LP.

Interestingly enough though, Ando received no downgrade on her UR 3flip in the SP. Same for Flatt's 3Lutz in the SP, which I thought was more obvious than her flips in the LP. It's still very confusing to me why Miki and Rachael were not downgraded in the SP for those jumps, but the past is the past.

Honestly, it felt like Rachael was dinged once in the LP because they missed the one in the SP that was a lot more obvious.:p

I thought her 3t and 3lz in the SP were both downgraded, and the two 3f in the LP were fine. I guess they wanted to keep her in the hunt for the SP so they let her get away with those but then made up for it in the FS? Idk, she still did a good job though and managed a good score.
