does anyone have any information about the Russian and Chinese teams for this event?

Russia is holding their Junior Nationals/Junior Worlds selection competition at the end of this month (Jan. 20-22, I believe). Two age-eligible men who've been injured and missed the fall international season are Artem Grigoriev (2009 Junior Worlds bronze medalist; he just placed 7th at Senior Nationals) and Ivan Bariev (heard he's hoping to compete at Jr. Nationals). Results of the other age-eligible men at Senior Nationals: Gordei Gorshkov (8th), Mark Shakhmatov (10th), Artur Gachinski (13th), Artur Dmitriev, Jr. (14th - he has yet to compete in a JGP), Stanislav Kovalev (16th), and Zhan Bush (17th). Gachinski and Kovalev placed 6th and 7th, respectively, in the JGP Final last month, while Gorshov and Bush won 2 JGP bronzes apiece and Shakhmatov one JGP bronze this fall.

China's Nan SONG won the men's silver medal at the JGP Final behind Japan's Hanyu and ahead of USA's Ross Miner (bronze). 13-year-old Han YAN, won the JGP men's gold in Turkey and is a young talent well worth watching develop. Jiaxing LIU was the 3rd Chinese man on the JGP this fall and his best finish was 4th in BLR.

Thank you Sylvia... so it looks like a wait and see on the Russian team then. Do you know how China does their selections? Are they having a competition to do this as well?

In ice dance for Romania it should be Harmony RISCA / Chase BROGAN because they are the only ice dance couple here. But there is still unknown if all the paperwork is ready and what status they have. Last time i heard they participated in the italian junior championship ( though still representing Romania ) - because in here aren't any judges and specialists for ice dance.

I can't speak for the ladies but i suspect that it's between Sabina Paquier ( she'll be at the senior euros though) and Sabina MARIUTA. As for the boys there is either Zolt KOSZ or Vlad IONESCU as far as I know

Does anyone have any information about Armenia, Brazil, Czech Republic, North Korea (DPR), Georgia, Iceland (highly unlikely they will send anyone), Israel, Kazahkstan, Korea, Mongolia (highly unlike they will send anyone), Montenegro, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Serbia, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, the Ukraine or Uzbekistan?

Last year, there was an Ice Dance pair from KAZ on the entry list, but before the competition started, they was removed from the list, because they had problems with paperwork, but i don´t know their names anymore

I received confirmation today from the President of the ISS (Iceland) Federation that the Icelandic Skating Association will not send any participants to this event.

- Argentina will not be sending any entries to compete.
- Denmark will be sending one lady and one dance team (TBA) - no men or pairs.

I don´t understand why federations doesn´t send skaters to competitions like junior worlds or worlds if they have the skaters it´s a shame

For Argentina, they have no skaters with "international junior" level. So the cost of the participation will be too high, and the Argentinian Fed is new, so has maybe not many money.
For Iceland, it's strange... They have never participated in any great competitions :(

I don't know a lot about either federation, but I know both are relatively new and would guesstimate that both countries don't have a lot of top notch coaches etc. or training facilities to further the development of what talent they have. Argentina has previously sent one competitor to the JGP and World Juniors previously - Natasha Alexandra Mitsuoka in 2006 - but none since. Iceland has sent skaters to the Nordic Championships (they had three Junior ladies who finished in the last three places in 2009) and other internationals but not ever to the World Juniors that I know of? Maybe they don't have anyone they feel is ready enough to compete at "that level".

Pairs: Juliana Gurdzhi-Alexander Völler (that is fix, the criterias for pairs where clear, the best from the jgps and german national will go, they were also informend after nationals that they will go)

Dance: Stefanie Frohberg-Tim Giesen (same as pairs)

Men: the qualification is not over yet, but Daniel Dotzauer is the front runner. When nothing major happen, he will go.

Ladies: Bavarian Open will decide who go. There are a few candidates to go. Sarah Hecken of course not, she will only skate senior this season after she qualified for Euros and Olympics.
Shira Willner, Silver at Nationals and will go to Euros - only Salchow and Toe
Julia Pfrengle, Bronze at Nationals - also have a Loop
Isabel Drescher, 4ht at Nationals - have a beautiful Flip and 3-3 ... after the coaching change she need some time
Sandy Hoffmann, 4th at JGP Dresden, have Loop and Lutz ... but very inconsistent
It will be a hard fight!

Only 2 competitions will count, and Bavarian Open will count 1,1. So the fight for ladies is really open.

I hope that Drescher and Pfrengle will go. They are both really talented and need the experience. Willner have Euros.
