I've heard that 7 U.S. singles skaters were selected for a developmental international this spring (it is my understanding that only JGP age-eligible skaters in 2010-11 were considered). Please consider these "unofficial" until posted on USFS' site.

April 1-3, 2010, in Selva Val Gardena, Italy

I am very excited to see how Yasim & Nina fair. Both are charming on and off the ice. And, of course, Jason Brown will be a treat to watch. Fun to get your first overseas assigment, I would imagine. Good luck to all the competitors.

Was Leah Kaiser (sorry I may be spelling her name wrong) not eligible for the novice category?

It is my understanding that both 2010 U.S. Novice national singles champs, Leah Keiser and Nathan Chen, were not assigned as novices because they will not be age-eligible for the JGP next season.

Just saw the results. Brown won with almost the same score as he had in Nationals. (197). The big surprise was Max Aaron who only scored 158. Any idea what happened?

The U.S. skaters did not have a choice of competitions -- Gardena was the only spring developmental international on USFS' calendar this season. Here are the final results for the 7 U.S. skaters:

Junior Men:
1 Jason BROWN USA 197.30 1 1 (128.32 in FS)
2 Max AARON USA 158,87 3 2 (105.03)
3 TJ YANG USA 147,67 2 3 (88.49)

Junior Ladies:
1 Samantha CESARIO USA 141,09 1 1 (87.86)
2 Lindsay DAVIS USA 128,24 2 2 (77.80)

Novice Ladies:
1 Nina JIANG USA 121,68 2 1 (81.89)
2 Yasmin SIRAJ USA 118,48 1 2 (74.66)

"npavel" has posted a summary of the FS protocols for Brown, Aaron, Cesario and Davis in the Gardena thread at FSU: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showthread.php?t=71498

The detailed protocols don't seem to be published online yet, but hopefully a link will become available to be posted here in the near future.

Thanks to the person from Eisclub Gardena who directed me to the page where the detailed protocols are published -- link is: http://www.eisclubgardena.com/index.php?id=50

Good to see both Nina Jiang and Yasmin Siraj attempting 3Lo in their programs that they didn't try at Nationals (Jiang successfully landed 3Lo+2T as her SP combo) because the required solo jump out of steps in the Junior SP/JGP next season is 2 or 3Lo.

I can't believe how tall Nina Jiang looks! She's not even 13-years-old! (She's turning 13 on April 17.) She looks amazingly tall and mature for her age. It's great that she got 3R-2T with +GOE in the SP. She's just old enough to compete in the JGP in the fall. Perhaps she'll get sent given her gold medal here. She'll be up against all the Russian jumping beans in the fall, who have much harder jumps than her. But I think she has more polish and speed compared to most of them, so maybe she'll have some advantage in PCS. Can't wait to see her on the JGP circuit!
