Suppose there was a competition where any skaters you wanted would be there. ANYONE from the past 10 years or so. Who would be your top three?

I guess you could say this is a top three favorite skaters in each division thread, but whatever. I just thought this would be fun.

Gold - Evan Lysacek
Silver - Ryan Bradley
Bronze - Jeremy Abbott or Johnny Weir

LADIES:
Gold - Sasha Cohen
Silver - Jenny Kirk
Bronze - Sarah Hughes or Irina Slutskaya

PAIRS:

Silver - Tatiana Totmianina/ Maxim Marinin
Bronze - Kyoko Ina/ John Zimmerman

DANCE:
Gold - Tanith Belbin/ Ben Agosto
Silver - Tessa Virtue/ Scott Moir
Bronze - Tatiana Navka/ Roman Kostamarov (sp?)

You know, I tried to pick but I just can't do without getting all complicated. How am I supposed to pick between Michelle Kwan and Kim Yuna? I'm just glad those two never had to compete with each other and safely belong to different eras. That way I can worship the Kween and still accept that Queen Yuna is obviously superior jumper... And there is Sasha Cohen. Yeah, I'm a bit bummed that the girl never won an OGM or a WGM. But am I supposed to root for her over Kim Yuna or Mao Asada? And even though I always wanted Sasha to have her golden moment I could never, ever root for her against Michelle. I would always want them both to do their best and whoever wins wins.

So. I guess in my dream podium would be this:
1. Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Kim Yuna and Mao Asada would tie for gold.
2. Irina Slutskaya, silver.
3. Alissa Czisny and Mirai Nagasu would tie for bronze.

Good thing I'm not a judge. :rolleye:

PAIRS:
Gold - Xue Shen/ Hongbo Zhao
Silver - Jessica Dube/ Bryce Davidson
Bronze - an American pair

LOL?

Your post was clearly extremely American biased (and only considered the past 4 years, excluding your female picks), but at least pick a team! Don't insinuate that any American pairs team is better than Pang/Tong or Szolkowy/Savchenko or all of the Russian teams from the past 10 years. :indiff:

Since it's a dream podium of a dream competition, and because I live in a dream world where we're still in "the golden era" of skating in north america, I'll add in a few skaters from the 80s/90s

Men:
Gold - Kurt Browning
Silver - Alexei Yagudin
Bronze - Ryan Bradley (in my dream he's polished and consistent)

Ice Dance:
Gold - Belbin & Agosto
Silver - Roca & Sur
Bronze - Gregory & Petukhov
*yes I'm biased, and this is a dream podium of skaters I enjoy not those I think are best

Ladies:
Gold - Kristi Yamaguchi
Silver - Yuka Sato
Bronze - Josee Chouinard

Pairs:
Gold - Gordeeva & Grinkov
Silver - Sale & Pelletier
Bronze - Bereznaya & Sikharudleze

dream podiums don't mean I think they're best, just some of my favorites. and, yes, I am North American Biased.... and apparently ageist as I chose more 'retired' skaters than current

Awww. I like your dreams.

I forgot to do the men. It's easier b/c I always feel less emotionally attached than with the women. But I'm sticking to the last 10 years or it gets way too difficult.

1. Yags
2. Lambiel
3. Daisuke

Wait!!! How can that be? I didn't pick any American men!!

hang on...

1. Yags
2. Lambiel (In my dream he finally has two perfect skates and with Plushenko-type landings on his quad.)
3. Ryan Bradley (same dream as Tonichelle)

wait. Actually, I want to expand to the last 20 years, too, just for the men because some of my all time favs are from the 90s.

1. Yags
2. Rudy Galindo
3. Paul Wylie/Lambiel:cool:

I'm watching figure skating since the late 60's, so I really won't limit myself to the last 10 years (like many others didn't, listed already some older one's ) if I'm talking about a "dream competition".

Ladies:
1.Yu-Na Kim
2.Kristi Yamaguchi
3.Lu Chen
(Janet Lynn is a VERY closed 4th.)

Men:
1.John Curry
2.Stephane Lambiel
3.Alexei Yagudin.
(Toller Cranston is a VERY closed 4th.)

Dance:
1.Torvill-Dean
2.Klimova-Ponomarenko
3.Anissina-Peizerat
(Virtue-Moir is a VERY closed 4th.)

Pairs:
1. Gordeeva-Grinkov
2.Protapopovs
3.Shen-Zhao
(Mishkutionok-Dmitriev is a VERY closed 4th again)

All of these athletes are/were pure artists with timeless beauty, passion and quality. They are the one's (with some more of course), figure skating has been worth watching since decades. Thank you for them!

There was one I had in mind, but I'd forgotten their names..... they've been gone a while and I forgot, but I liked them while they competed!
And seeing as I don't have cable, I mostly just watch the US championships and what they air from international competitions (from which they mainly show Americans) so can you blame me for being "American biased?"
