Congratulations to Mirai, Mao and Laura. Sorry about YuNa's skate. That was so unlike her, she seemed distracted.
Very pleased with the way Mirai skated she has it all and a joy to watch.

So Yuna is 10 points behind but for her she can make that up. I mean she just got a 150 at the Olympics! Even if Mirai and Mao are clean Yuna can still win gold. Actually now Carolina has a good shot at a medal if she can hold it together.

I don't think Yuna going to get the 150 score like in Olympics!! Her PCS for short is already down by 3 points for good reasons and fair. IF the trend continure and if she skate clean, 135-140 is reasonable. But Mao is also capable for scoring over 130+ and she has 8 points cushion. Marai has 2 points buffer, and that buffer will probably lost in the LP PCS between her and Mao, so she cannot make a mistake in the LP if she wants to hang on for the Gold. But still 130 range is possible for Marai with better PCS than Vancouver!!

The score between G-S-B should be very tight, and probably between 1-3 points gap.

Yuna said it was her falult and she'll fight for the lp. Brian said it was not boots or anything else, she just lost focus.

OMG thank god - please please tell me you watched the live british euro sport too, or some other european version of the euro sport?

people are keep questioning my previous post re: orser and yuna's interview!

More specifically, the one I watched showed orser's interview between Akiko + Rachael's, and Yuna's interview was done straight after Rachael's SP.

OMG for that matter, is there ANYONE out there who watched eurosport live at the time? GGGGGrrrrrr!!! I thought I was doing a good deed by posting their interviews pretty much live, but clearly there are LOADS of people out there questioning its validity. Tsh Tsh.

Links to Laura's and Mao's skates, anyone? Sounds like they did very well. I dozed off while watching the first group, woke up the moment Mirai appeared (amazingly) and immediately got to my senses when Yu-na skated. Also, I'm now less of a pessimist. I see the silver lining now. Yu-na said she wasn't as enthusiastic about Worlds this time (it is anticlimactic). This probably got the fierce competitor in her working. I can see a great, redeeming skate coming. I can also see Akiko coming back strong.

I can still see Yu Na winning. Doing poorly in the SP might light a fire under her and she might just skate the heck out of her LP tomorrow. V/M had 2 major slips in their OD at SC and came back with a fabulous FD. It depends on how she takes it.

If she DOES lose ... well I imagine she'll be motivated to train harder than ever. Either that or just give up and retire, but I don't see that happening.

ITA. I hope this is exactly what happens, but even if she loses, I hope she converts the experience into positive motivation and energy. She should never beat herself up for LOSING. You win some, you lose some. I bet she knows that just as well as I do.

PCS goes up and down depending on your perforamnce level.

Yuna's PCS wasn't in the high 8 to 9 range until she skated clean lp.

Skate order for FS is exciting!! Yuna now has fire and reason to fight back like in Vancouver. Mao is in great position too. And Marai second to last and see what she needed to do to win. Kenesia close off the skate.

And history has also shown that she can make comebacks. She did it in 2008 Worlds. Granted she was fifth, not seventh...but she can do it. Also it helps that she has Brian Orser as her coach, you know that he will give her a good talking to. I also think she ought to talk to Adam Rippon since he did a 7th to 1st comeback at 4CC.

I'm just waiting for all the Yu-na haters to get on this board...and just revel in her bad SP. :( UGHHH.
I did a little research and saw that she hasn't had such a low score since....her fifth place finish after the SP in 2008. But Yu-na can easily come back in the long. Those 10 points are not insurmountable.
I think we all should be glad that this happened after the Olympics!

Otherwise great job to Mao, Mirai, Laura and Kensia. I thought Rachael did a solid program, but was a bit bland and slow today. Carolina Kostner should not be in fourth. She gets fourth for a double loop and a bad one at that?! I would say she should actually barely beat Yu-na! If you look at it Yu-na did stroger jumps (3Z-3T; 3F<; 2A) vs (3F-2T; 2L; 2A). I would keep her in front of Yu-na because of the spiral and the layback mistakes, but no higher.

Yuna haters can not say anything about her program today. She just was not herself. She still has a chance to win because she always get high score if she sklates well anyway. By the way, I do not even know if there are such people like Yuna haters. I am a big hater of illusionally decorated image of Yuna. I do not hate Yuna herself. I just hate it that she has been portrayed as the greatest skater ever just because of huge 3-3.

It looks like Ms. Kim gained some weight? Thank goodness the Olympics are over.

She still has a chance to the podium but gold is not hers for the taking. She'll need help from other skaters for that.

IMO, all these skaters are vulnerable (except Mirai) and present places can easily be changed.

I have spoken.

Well, Mirai Nagasu was also first after the SP in Cup of China but she finished off the podium after the LP. If the tech specialist is as strict as he seems to be here, I think Mirai could be in for some downgrades in the LP.

just because of huge 3-3.

Yeah people like you is the worst kind of Yuna hater I would say. You can pretend like your not one of them but come on. Look at your previous posts (from other threads as well). From what I have read so far you are either jealous of Yuna or just one of those crazy Maotas.

Obviously they didn't think so tho.

I read that the specialist was a Japanese guy who's super strict. :-/ At least they didn't do what they did to Mao at Rostelecom Cup -- giving her 0 on her 2A.

The reason Mao got 'zero' is because she water it down to 2A+2t and repeat it another 2A later. You can do one solo 2A in the SP, so the first one got nada. Getting < is defferent because you are attempting a 3A, just failed to fully rotate it.

Yes, but she's mentally and technically stronger now. She has that mindset and mental fortitude of a champion (or champion to be) that I like to talk about. Frank did magic in a year's time. At 2009 Nationals, I could feel that she just wanted to give her title away. She hated being 1st after the SP in COC. Mirai hated the pressure then, but now she thrives off of it. Her URs are not as bad now. There's still room for improvement, but she's come a long way. She could definitely win the world title here, as long as she gets the scores she deserves.

Actually she didn't water it down to 2A-2T

They DG'd her 3A, which then made it a 2A, then said her 2A = 0.

Technical excellence with all elements from jumps to step sequences + artistry + speed, she is probably fastest skater right now + good programs + nice spirals.

That's what she has. She didn't show it all right now, but we all know that.

Yes, she could. However, the poster I quoted seemed to think somehow Nagasu is the only one who is not vulnerable, which is just crazy talk, hence I had to point out no one is invincible.
