Yuna said she had trouble with getting enough motivation for these Worlds. I hope her 10.10 point deficit renews this motivation to possibly end her career on a high note.

I'm not sure she got it ratified. Her TES in Vancouver was 37 and 40 today. She also got the edge call in Vancouver.

Er... what ks777 said.

Why else would her TES go up by 3 then? I think she probably got 3lz-3t ratified with -GOEs either for an edge call or the somewhat scratchy landing. I know Mirai missed levels and got lvl 2 on her spiral sequence and footwork in her LP in Vancouver but in the SP I think she got all of her levels (not quite sure though). If she managed to get 70 without having the 3-3 ratified though, that's even more promising, because it suggests that Mirai could potentially beat Mao and be very very close to Yuna with a solid 3lz-3t in the SP :agree:. Way to go Mirai! I guess we'll know when the protocols come out, but considering that no one confirmed the 3-3 was downgraded like they did with Mao's 3a, I assume it stood. Either way Mirai is a rockstar !

I have a fear that we can see another meltdown from Yuna in the LP.
Frankly 10 point is not a big margin for Yuna to overcome.. she can beat any other competitors even in such a tough situation.
But after Olympics she made no preparation for the Worlds and lost every motivation for it.
I think it's too late to refresh herself now.

Just hope she get enough rest after Worlds.
Wish I can see Yuna in the competitions next year.

I've been hearing that her 3-3 was slightly UR. I think it's probably the second triple~~ maybe she only got neg GOE for it though. But if she didn't get her 3-3 ratified and missed some levels and still got 70, then I say her score was pretty generous.

Aw, you're being sweet. :)

Oops. Next time I'll have to try harder not to be. :p

she doesn't care anymore she told she going to just have fun, and I talk one club mates older sister of club mate who I went to school in South FL I not aloud say who, but way she told me from her sister the way Rachael wanting going Stanford she will probley decide to retire after this year. From what I seen she really been just going school alot . She not been full tilt So that probly why she so far back. But when I tweeted Racheal having fun really work at School towards Graduations that is her main goal now. I also wanted add this she class act more then any person on these boards, she had fun not matter what JUdges dumb fans think of her. To see some want reach goals that so hard to get done l makes as American very proud her.

That makes me sad. She's not my favorite skater and some things about her skating drive me nuts. But she's also very talented and very young. I was hoping she'd work on some of her problems like posture and speed and go for Sochi.

I used to be Miki's fan until i saw her live in rostel cup and lost my spark, she is slow, and a little clumpsy, Morozov was singing in her step sequence, i dont know how is this possible but he did!!!!!

Funny. I'd never been a fan of Miki until I saw her skate live a few years ago. In person her jumps were powerful and big. But something's gone awry since then. Her jumps are really puny now. And she was never a very elegant skater but her stamina has gone way down. Personally, I think she should quit Morozov...

Mirai deserves to be in first place. A gorgeous skate. Kim Yu Na deserves her placement also. She may or may not land on the podium. I don't think she has probably been training like she did for the Olympics and I don't think she is motivated. I rpefer Mirai's skating to hers any day of the week. Happy Mao seems to be gaining her momentum back.

She only got level 3s on a sit spin and one of her step sequences in Vancouver. Maybe she went back and reworked those. Ahh, I'm going to stop now before I go batty. But yeah, she's a rockstar!

How Mirai's 3-3 wasn't downgraded and Asada's 3a was is completely mind boggling to me... Asada's 3a was well within 1/4 of a turn while Mirai's toeloop was heavily prerotated and underrotated, I thought it was a double until I rewatched it 3 times

From what I hear, she had a clean SP and LP in practice. I don't think any of this has to do with not being prepared. I just think it's a matter of determination and focus... which should return now that she's in 7th!

I hope so!

I hope that the SP result reignites her competitive fire. She's usually so consistent and awesome, and I'd love to see her do SOHL.

It's a bit misleading to say that this is the "best of Mao" because we all know Mao has been struggling for a while. She's coming back to form but still not back to her best form and of course her packaging is not ideal. I do think Mirai has the potential to be a formidable opponent to both Yuna and Mao because I think she has the best aspects of both of their skating (Yuna's speed and Mao's flexibility/posture); however, that doesn't mean Mao has reached her peak yet.

You are misunderstanding and I was certainly not misleading. By "best of Mao", I meant if she skates a perfect LP tomorrow, something like, or better than what she did in 4CC or at her Nationals. I was not in anyway calling her SP her best, although I thought she skated great. She didn't get her optimal score with her 3A being downgraded.

My point is her perfect LP tomorrow (Mao's Best) couldn't beat Mirai's perfect LP (Mirai's Best), if Mirai has as good a performance in her LP tomorrow as she did in her SP. And we know if Yuna has her perfect LP tomorrow (as in Vancouver) she can beat Mirai and Mao, although I agree with the majority opinion that it is unlikely Yuna will get that kind of score/perfornance since she doesn't seem to be in her best post-Olympics. No misleading going on here.

I feel bad for Yuna. I don't know if it is the Korean skating federation making her compete at worlds or her sponsors... She just won the Olympics! How could she be motivated? I hope she will go on a long vacation after the world championships! She deserves it!

By the way, I was watching Julia Sebestyn skate her SP.... I really love the music! I didn't really enjoy Julia skating to it though, I thought Yuna could make it a masterpiece. I don't know the name of the music but I could just so picture Yuna skating to it. I would love for Yuna to skate to it next year!

I totally agree w/ you about Yuna skating at the Worlds. I think maybe she feels pressure to compete there to earn 2-3 spots for Korea because if she doesn't go, Korea will end up getting like 1 spot. And if Yuna decides to continue, she's the one getting it, not anyone else.

Julia's music is Secret Garden OST btw.

Wow, they really propped up Yuna. The PCS is insane for that performance. Carolina Kostner PCS was only 29 and her footwork and everything aside from the double loop was good to great. Mao PCS was the same as Yuna.

I thought the Russian girl in 5th, her 3T-3T should be downgraded.
Mirai 3L-3T should also be downgraded. Tara called it in real time that it was not fully rotated. Tara couldn't tell if Mao 3A was short of rotation even with slow mo replay. This showed inconsistency from the technical specialist.
Miki 3F should be downgraded. That one was so URed. PCS at 28 for a lifeless performance. I would put her at 45. What a disgrace.

Is Mao's interpreter the one they used for Daisuke? I thought that she was pretty good and seemed to get the nuances of translation.

Laura sounded really cute in the post SP conference.
One of the questions:
Laura, what do you feel about your 3rd place? Are you surprised about your 3rd place? Read: Do you think you deserve 3rd place?
What a horrible question!
I think Laura did really well here. Hopefully she can hang on to 3rd place tomorrow.

But how you do know Tara wasn't the one who was wrong?
