Hih, I just replayed Laura's program; it was possible on our own national channel without commentators. The reason to that mistake in axel was overrotataing and when she went off the ice first thing her coach asked her if she was going to try 5A.

Gotta feel bad for the Japanese ladies, too...... they've been the strongest country in women's skating for a few years now, and now it's a fight to keep three spots. Reminds me of the USA after 06 Olympics. Thank God for Mirai and Rachael.
Yes. She just had the ultimate Olympics hangover. Seriously when was the last time an OGM decided to compete at Worlds afterworld? I think 1992 with Kristi, right? There's probably a good reason for that.
Someone posted that it was very difficult to train after she won. She said that she really didn't get going until about a week before the competition. I don't know though...Pang and Tong took three weeks off from training and they did fine....but perhaps they actually had time off. I get the feeling that Yu-na's been all over the place.
Mrs. P
I didn't say that she has the best spirals, she just has them and they are nice. Mirai is better at them, yes.I don't love her spirals, but I have to say they've improved over the years. I just remember watching her at junior worlds..godness..she couldn't hold it for more than 2 seconds. But I think there are other skaters who have better sprials, Mirai, for one.
She has an above average level with every element she does, including single jumps and step sequences. And even her spins have nice ice coverage and speed. So technically she is much stronger than most of other skaters, she is almost perfect with everything except spins and, well, she doesn't do 3A and 3L, but the 3L is missing not because of technical problems. But if you're going to say something like "but other people do a 3-3" fine. But what people praise her for isn't that she just does a 3-3 it's how she does it. She like goes like 20 feet and both jumps have great height. Other combos people tend to underrotate the second jump or make it much smaller. That's a money combo.
So that's why she is so outstanding, it's not just 3-3. Then she is also a great artist and has very good programs.
Right after the Oly, she was basically ordered to go to Korea to attend some ridiculous Presidential luncheon w/ 2BM, and then she had to return to Toronto right after that. She had to go even tho she explained that it's a lot of travel 4 weeks before the World Competition b/c I heard a lot of conflicting stories -- at 1st, they said she explained the situation w/ time zone & so on and declined, but later she accepted ,etc. etc.
Basically she was used by the loser 2MB who isn't all that popular (low & crummy approval rating). She stayed in Korea for 2 days and flew back to Toronto. Then she caught a cold after that.
Combine all that w/ the lack of motivation, etc. it's not totally surprising she didn't do very well.
Hmm if the tech specialist is that strict... I worry that Mao will get DG on her 3A tomorrow and potentially lose 10 points
She gained 2kg according to the media!! They said it might affect her jumps but I guess not!! She's like 50kg I'm guessing now!!! She was 48kg in Vancouver!
ok just two things to ask, first of all can somenone explain me MAo's score, was her axel Ur or something?? I missed something else?? Then the downroad began, by far the worst event i ve attended, we were all discussing that this is the revenge to the good Olys. And Yuna, people went shocked, ok she missed spin, spiral, wonky one landing, but isnt her score down enough??
Mirai thanx god was the sunshine in the rain, adorable, cute, graceful, just bravo!
the rest later, we run for ice dance! Dont wait much I only like young italians, fabian/natalie and kers,i m just going for fun now!
I had a busy morning and missed the SP completely. And wow, the results are very surprising!
Yuna in 7th - I couldn't even imagine that. I didn't have a chance to watch it yet, but was it that bad? (Not that 60 points is terrible but it definitely is much lower than her avg score.) I think her GPF SP got 65 points when she had DG in 3-3 and popped 3F. And she got 5 points lower than that? AFAIK, she has NEVER been off the podium since her novice years in any international competitions. Hope she regains her strength and fight back hard in the LP. Maybe I shouldn't expect her to have 2 clean LPs in a row but at least I hope she doesn't make these weird mistakes again.
I'm glad for Mirai (she's certainly building reputation as a great SP skater), Mao (she's had 2 decent SP skates in a row), and MJ (she made it to the LP).
Wishing all the girls best of luck for the LP!

Whatever happens, I'm hoping Yuna will not retire!!!!!!
Yu-Na won't retire if she loses to Mao... Let's just hope Mao skates clean!! I think it might push her to prevent Mao from winning 2014 lol
pokky_oc
And who are you talking about!! I heard Mao Asada gained some weight, but she lost it then!! And how media can know how much she gained whoever she is!!! What a ridiculous post anyway! She gained 2kg according to the media!! They said it might affect her jumps but I guess not!! She's like 50kg I'm guessing now!!! She was 48kg in Vancouver!
Not seriously, how irrelevant this is...
Edited: ups, sorry, I misunderstood you. It was pretty clear you talked about Mao.
