News Piseyev Says He Will Not Run for Russian Figure Skating Federation Presidency Again

    http://www.sports.ru/others/figure-s.../69778603.html

Piseyev says he will not advance his candidacy for president of the Russian figure skating federation for another four years.

I think a lot of people have been waiting to hear this.

This was archived from yesterday, and is still available.

Maybe all the people in the Russian federation will get together and beg him to reconsider.

Well, he has been a president for a long, long time. Good that somebody else gets selected and will get the blame for everything that is not working in Russian figure skating, LOL.

He could be looking for some support to run again, but I kind of think he may want to retire. A new modern president is in order. Maybe a woman? maybe Butryskaya?

Huh? Why her? Now, Rodnina OTOH, is a clear possibility. Though some rumors said tha the last tmie around Piseev got actual support from Russian figure skating community because they'd rather deal with a known evil such as Piseev than with a very honest but difficult person such as Rodnina.

    ^^^^

Butryskaya's just a suggestion. She knows single skating and has had the tough road up to World Champion. She definitely knows what skaters need financially. And she has sat through all the other divisions. She has been a correspondent on skating to boot.

Is there a possibility that Piseyev is being forced out? According to yesterday's newpapers:

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has ousted two top sports officials from preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. Medvedev said that figure skating president Valentin Piseyev and cross-country skiing head Vladimir Loginev have been removed from their positions. Russia won only three golds and 15 medals overall in Vancouver.
