Another CoP surprise: a virtual unknown Takahashi in 2nd, with TES higher than Plushy!

I looked up the info on Takahashi. It's interesting that one of his coaches is Kudryavtsev (former coach of Kulik and Butyrskaya, current coach of Sokolova), and Tarasova is listed as his choreographer.

Daisuke Takahashi was World Jr. Champ in 2002.

We saw him last year at Bofrost. Gave him name TIC TAK! :)

I am amazed at Takahashi - I saw him live at 2002 SA. The poor boy literally could not land *anything*. Not in practice, not in his short program. I think he landed 2 triple toes in his LP - and then fell on hid footwork. It was painful to watch. We were cheering him on as hard as we could, because he looked majorly out of his league. I know that he was at either SA or SC already this season, and while he seemed to have found his legs somewhat, did not skate well at all.

As a result, I am thrilled to see that he skated well here! I understand that the men's SP was a real splatfest - but Daisuke had to land his jumps to be in 2nd - and to get a higher tech placement than Plush?!? WOW.

Good luck to Daisuke Takahashi in the LP!!!!!!

(crossing my fingers for him)

It ain't over till it's over. I'm expecting Kevin to be on the podium.

BTW, What's with Brian? It's his home grounds.

takahashi is actually known for his beautiful skating techniques in japan. He was the world jr champ in 2002 at 15yo. Last season he was working on a quad and sought help from a north american coach(I believe it was a canadian coach) on quad jumps and that got him to lose the consistancy on his jumps altogether..so he had to go back to his old techniques on his jumps. It took him a whole year to get his old self back.. He is thought to be more talented than Honda in japan as far as the basic skating go.

I would expect Joubert to skate better in the freeskate and to see him as well as van der Perren on the podium.... Although one should not forget Weiss either

"Plush fell, no biggie???" Since when is a fall in the short program "no biggie"? And to still be leading the pack, hm, methinks there is something sneaky going on there.

GO WEISS!!

you would not have any problem if it were Yags would you? The guy is no robot and he has a bad knee.

Ks777, thanks for the information on Takahashi, and welcome to the Forum!

So Takahashi is only 16 now? He will be someone to watch in the future.

Joe, I just snuck a peak at the men's LP results. You're a prophet about Van der Perren!

Curious, I don't know what your major anti-Yags problem is. I am not "anti-Plush", even being a Yags fan. BUT, since when is a fall in the short program "no biggie"? Yeah, the guy is competing with a bad knee. It maybe would be a wiser choice for him to take some time off, have the surgery now, and come back next year, rather than risk causing further, or maybe permanent damage to himself and his career. But for you to be making snide remarks at me simply because I have different taste in skaters than you do, that's just bullcrap. I would think that if you were a true fan of Plush, you would be a bit concerned over his recent falls and skating troubles, and wish him better health and maybe different choices. Get off my ass.

I'm concerned about his injuries more than you think, but if he wants to skate I can't do anything about it. Get off your ass as if I care that much about your remarks that's funny.

It seems that Evgeni and team made quite a few changes to his SP since Skate Canada. I liked Skate Canada's better. I noticed Peter Carruthers was gushing over Evgeni while saying that Takahashi's program lacked luster. I didn't think so, I thought Takahashi's program was great!! Is Peter blind? Is Evgeni & Takahashi's music the same? Anyone know?

Now that I have seen this on TV, I have a question for the ladies. Is Daisuke Takashi a major cuitie-pie or what?
