I KNOW this is rather pointless, but I would've loved to see Chen Lu skate to Élegie by Gabriel Fauré http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLKdq6cL_zo&feature=related
Can't really see any of the current skaters pull it off though. Or MAYBE Kim.

Then this is a real dream of mine: to see the Kerrs skate to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqBOJUeGJCk Would be different for them but at the same time I have a strong feeling their maturity would help them pull it off.

Another weird suggestion. I really could see this work for Lepistö. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R8kiEfdZlBM (from the Moomin TV series)

Can you say voidiest program ever? It would be like Bond only better. Not many skaters could pull it off though, but I think Kim, Nagasu, Baga, Ovcharova, and maybe Leonova could.

I really am a big fan of video game soundtracks. Especially Final Fantasy. I wish that some skates to Final Fantasy music

I would love to see a ladies skater perform Rule of Secrecy by Muse. I know the Kerrs used it in 08/09 for their Free dance. I could see this peice being skated by Alissa Czisny. Her wonderful Spins and Spirals would lend themselves very well in this selection. She could also use a circular step sequence and a couple of her jumps.

Béla Bartók's "Romanian Folk Dances" is a wonderful piece, I wonder why nobody used it AFAIK. He collected 6 Romanian folksongs and composed it.

here it is performed in the beautiful Budapest synagogue by an orchestra. It gives me chills.

Ankka, I didn't even know that there was Moomin music! The Moomintroll books are among my favorites. A British friend lent me hers years ago, and I was thoroughly charmed by them. Anyone who's interested in children's fantasy stories ought to look them up. They're by Tove Jansson, a Finnish author, and they're full of her invented creatures but steeped in the beauty of nature. A Comet in Moominland is my favorite. Despite the fact that the characters are cute, the stories aren't cutesy or even particularly childish. I strongly recommend them.

Back on the topic of music, I heard a beautiful orchestral piece by the Czech composer Josef Suk, his Scherzo Fantastique. It has a haunting waltz motif in this first section, which if cut correctly would make a great program. It sort of reminds me of the urgent quality of the Sentimental Waltz that Sasha performed to in one of her best programs, the 2002 short program.

The Suk piece sounds like a great choice for the Golden Waltz part of the new short dance.

Ooh, great idea, Doris! It would work well for ice dancers. It has a lot of emotion in it, don't you think? Too bad Dubreuil and Lauzon aren't still competing. They'd do a splendid job of it. It needs someone with a bit of fierceness and mystery.

So, this totally doesn't count, but listening to "Arirang" doesn't anyone else think that Chen Lu would've done wonders with it?

Yes, absolutely as Chen-Lu is one of the most expressive skaters I have ever seen.

Definitely Chen Lu would have rocked (so to speak) with this music.

I can't remember who, but I read on one of the threads that someone is skating to my favorite tango, Libertango. That makes me happy.

Gladiator soundtrack. No really. Wouldn't work but if someone pulls it off would be amazing.

Dvorak's: Songs my mother taught me.
Nyah from MI
Dvorak: Slavonic Dance Op.72: No.2 in E minor
Massnet: Elegie "O Douz Printemps d'Auterfoix"

Not familiar with Alexei Yagudin?

OMG!!! :eek::eek::eek:

I just saw it. Awesome!! No I wasn't able to watch many of the seasons around that time, missed Salt Lake Olympic performances too, because of RL sucking up all my time. Didn't think the music could be made to match the skating but looks like it can. Ha. Ty.

Don't know if you watched this already, but he also does a pretty cool gala version with knives. I've no idea how he was able to jump and spin with knives--granted, they probably weren't very sharp, but still...!

You should definitely watch Yagudin's SLC Olympic performances, though! Especially his Winter SP, a program for the ages (IMO, Gladiator > Man in the Iron Mask, but MitIM's more famous as the Gladiator season (2000-2001) was, well, not exactly a good one for Yagduin)

Kurt Browning did a wonderful pro routine to Nyah, I believe. Maybe it's time for another one from someone!
