Mai Asada, Kanako Murakami, and Daisuke Takahashi did the same thing in Japan, too. Daisuke was a bit surprising pick to me. A lot of times, they prefer female athletes and Mai and Kanako are the typical types to be picked. This reminded me of discussions in many of the GS threads confirming the societal general perspective that FS has always been considered a "feminine" sport. Dai seems to represent one of the typical stereotypes of male skaters: small, as pretty as a hero in girls' comic books, narsistic, talks softly, and wears flamboyant costumes with frills, feathers, and sequins. To see him in a baseball ground felt like a bit out of place. I basically find him looking most natural in female-dominant settings. Perhaps even more so if this had been in the US.
