I love the performances of Pang and Tong and they are my favorite in pairs. But such discussion is not meaningful. It is a sport that cannot be 100% fair, given the subjective factors built into it. Take it or leave it, that's it. Wish Pang and Tong a great upcoming season and cannot wait to see their new programs!!

I have a slight disagreement on this.Because only 7 judges' marks were chosen(the highest and the lowest were left),so the group of juges you were chosen for can definitely affect the marks.
If you consider all 9 judges' marks together(the highest and the lowest were left),you'll find actually P/T's pcs were higher than K/S's.And some of P/T's elements were undermarked, like their throws which got more 3 than S/S,but only got the same 1.64 on the actual mark because the computer chosed a group of judges against them. By my calculation, they should got a little bit more than 73(including the deduction)while K/S should got a little bit higher than 74.
I'm definitley OK with their placement and the fact that it was their own fault which caused their gold, but I 'm not pretty sure judges were considering them underdogs against K/S and M/T.

I think the judges definitely considered Shen & Zhou and the Germans the top 2 going into Vancouver. Kavaguti & Smirnov had more push than before because of their upset win over the Germans at Europeans.

They are just lucky Trankov fell and K/S imploded during the free skate and S/S were not at 110% or the silver would not have been theirs either.
Mukhortova & Trankov? You are kidding right. They couldnt even beat Pang & Tong at the Grand Prix final where Pang & Tong had mistakes in both programs and M&T were squeeky clean in both. In both M&T were the only team to skate 2 clean programs at the GP final, including Shen & Zhou, and still came 4th.
They had no chance at all of beating Pang & Tong in Vancouver no matter how they had skated. I doubt they were even going to beat the Germans for the bronze had they skated cleanly, even with the Germans mistakes. As it was based on the scores in Vancouver it looks like Dube & Davison were going to even finish above Mukhortova & Trankov if both pairs had actually skated cleanly, granted only in Canada would that happen but still.

What happens at previous competitions have no bearing once you step off the podium and onto fresh ice and more than one pair has proved that. Many teams get better as the season progresses. If Trankov didn't fall in the short at the Olympics my guess is the judges would have placed them in 4th.

You still never said how you thought M/T deserved the bronze over K/S or how P/T were underscored in the short...bearing in mind this wasn't the GPF or TEB or NHK this was a few months later.

M/T skated a clean short at the Worlds and still ended up 7 points back of Pang & Tong. At the Olympics they and Dube & Davison made similar mistakes and they couldnt even beat Dube & Davison. The fact you think M&T are any threat to a clean P&T pretty much already shows you are not worth even taking seriously as you are sadly out of touch with reality.

You said M/T deserved the bronze this year at worlds over K/S and you cannot state why even though the scores are provided on this very website All you can say is that you "like" them better, "The term 'Like' is not on the Code of Points at least not until next year.

You also said P/T were underscored at this years Olympics (SP-4th) and you never said why...just that that were. You said they should have been scored ahead of K/S but why? Please explain. I linked the scores.

It's obvious you adore Pang and Tong as most of us do and if you can justify why they should score higher than another team-that is fine but at least back up your claims with skating skills not just "feelings".

If not I think you're done here. I'm just glad the 99.9 of judges judge with their brain and a score sheet and not their heart.

Pang/Tong FS in the 2006 Torino Olympics. SBS 2A-2T combo, and severely under rotated SBS 3T, coupled with no connection to the music at all. And there are people who thought they were robbed? P/T are always generously marked. M/T were never that lucky. So you're right that when both are clean, M/T can't beat P/T, unfortunately.
