No I meant by default you are an orthodox, it is the official religion, when you are born it is written on your papers and no you dont have option, after 18 if you want you can change it and declare what you want, but nobody does it actually, up until last year your religion was also written in ID, now it is optional this.

it is just interesting as, at least over here, believer is what many "diehards" call themselves because "christian" is loosely used these days.

To return to the original topic of this thread (i.e. Zhenya's eligibility), this is what I uncovered today: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2871272&postcount=102

Hmm, I think this is a smart move, to make a comeback earlier this time, at least two years in advance imho, as he saw one year wasn't quite enough time to prepare programs for a skater of his magnitude. He is needing an explosion! (quote taken from one of my favorite movies "The Cutting Edge"). :)^)

And I also read wherein Evgeni states that he actually feels good about the Vancouver loss because there's still a dream for him to pursue (http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/showpost.php?p=2871568&postcount=120). :) Most definitely, I agree, God has greater things ahead of him, whereas if he had won the gold again he most likely would have retired, or would have coasted to the next Olympiad.

This was a wake up call for him to really put in the work this time not only technically (which he did magnificently, but if he had done the 4/3/2 he would have won instead of the easier 4/3), but also in terms of choreography. In fact I think if he had a better LP he would have won hands down. I'm only stating this so he can see where he can improve. Putting the Biellmann back in is an improvement (http://i380.photobucket.com/albums/oo244/sarahy45/Snap1.jpg). Also now that the quad is worth more, and the men are now allowed to put *two* quads in the SP, I think he should definitely consider this (btw Kevin Reynolds plans to do so this season: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/spor...ing-reynolds-eyes-rule-change/article1701888/).

But what I really want him to concentrate on (besides the technical aspect of course) is to bring forth a killer program that NO MAN can touch, in the vein of his past masterpieces (e.g. Once Upon A Time in America, The Godfather, Bolero, Tosca, Nijinsky, et al; too many to list). :)

Of course he would want a program that pays homage to his magnificent country ~ Russia ~ the land of art, culture, music, ballet, etc. Therefore, Swan Lake would be my preference for him, as its storied history is as impressive as he is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swan_Lake

On that note, I found a youtube link that a fan put together of him skating to this piece as Prince Siegfried: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKe-YscIrO8

Also, in my imagination, this is Zhenya in Sochi in 2014: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Uyg24hOiog

The thing that makes Plushenko a skater for the ages (and I hope for 2014!) is exactly what you're doing in your post, Nadine: one wants to imagine routines for him to skate. Only great skaters spark the imagination like that. He's not my favorite skater, but even I can see that he's one of Those. I always imagined Michelle skating to certain music (lots of Faure chamber music, for some reason), and now I do that with Mao. Similarly, Plushenko's skating seems to have broad horizons. I think he'd make a great Siegfried, I agree. And wouldn't he milk every ounce of emotion out of it! He'd do the music justice.

Yes, yes, I totally agree with you Olympia. :)

Just like I've always imagined Oksana Baiul skating to Beethoven's "Ode To Joy" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nJGESRc3XfY).

But back to Zhenya, after much thought I believe another masterpiece like "Nijinsky" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6GCChYzlRM&feature=related) would be the perfect vehicle for him. Out of all his phenomenal programs, "Nijinsky" defines him more than all the other ones imho, just as "The Swan" defines Oksana Baiul, and "Carmen" is synonymous with Katarina Witt. Leastways in my humble opinion. :)^)

What an enjoyable thread, but now I really must go, have a good weekend everybody, I intend to! :)
