Congratulations, Tatsuki!!! I've heard he landed 4T and 3A+3T.
Oh, Armin missed the podium by 0.8 points...
Melissa in second! I hope she skates just as well in the LP and snags a medal here!
Armin can be comforted by Davis and White who lost bronze by .04. .8 is like a lanslide.
Also Treitikov made a HUGE mistake when he did two flip combos! flip plus one and then flip plus two. He never did a single flip. So a whole three jump combo was NULLIFIED!!! Second time a skater made this mistake that I know of this season.
The mistake isn't doing the flip twice in combination and never solo. There's no rule against doing a repeated jump in combination both times. It's very common for skaters who do 3-3 combos to do two triple toes, both at the end of combinations.
The reason the element was nullified was because it was the fourth jump combination. Only three combinations total are allowed.
I took an incorrect reason of why the combo of Dornbush at the Junior grand prix was disallowed and applied it to Treitikov-

It looks like the Pairs long was a splatfest, but it often is, and this field was relatively thin to begin with.

Tanja Flade is covering event for GS and recaps can be viewed here.
Enjoy!!
Just got my laptop to work and wanted to share some random thoughts about the last two days here:
Men: While it is great that Machida and Menshow did flawless quads I was most impressed by Armin Mahbanoozadeh's free skate. One day I might even know how to spell his name by heart. Despite not even having a 3-3 combo his performance had soul.
But it was also nice to see how happy Peter Liebers was with his bronze, he has improved a lot on the components side (the Canadian choreography helped).
Pairs: Among the top 5 only our German team Hausch/Wende did not fall in the free, strangely enough. I thought Berton/Hotarek were better than Bazarova/Larionov, bizarerly here they just had the opposite problems: The Italians did a wonderful 3T-2T-2T combination while the Russians fell on their jumps, then the Russians did 2 great throws while the Italians messed up both theirs.
Ladies: I really like Kiira Korpi's new short, very elegant. And it was so refreshing and cute to see how happy Melissa Bulanhagui was about her program. Sarah Hecken is injured she said, inflamation on the back, and a stern tango program, she was very upset about not being in good form.
Ice Dance: I am not sure I like the idea of a short dance, not a lot of starters made it look like sth organic. Fabian Bourzat seemed at loss afterwards, he said they don't really know what is expected and Nathalie said they had to change quite a lot of their technique. Very odd: the German team Zhiganshina/Gazsi (who didn't even get a GP spot) were the only ones who got level 4 on both their waltz patterns.
Thank you so much for your report.

Yay!She had again 2T+3T, only 1Lz and 2F but the rest of the jumps and elements were quite good. What is ChSp? It was level 1 and the step sequence was level 2. Quite good score at this point of the season! I'm happy
Edit: does ChSp have to do something with spirals?
