I wish Anna had competed. She may have been able to win here and keep the streak going.
I've heard Anna will go to Germany and Czech Republic, Kristina Zaseeva will replace her in Great Britain. And yes, I wish she had competed in Japan, she could win here and it will be harder for her in Germany and Czech Republic to compete with Shelepen, Tuktamysheva and Gao.
If she's on form she should be able to keep up with those girls, but where she is coming off injury she might be at a disadvantage. But last season she and Gao went head-to-head three times and Anna beat Christina 2 of those times. Further, Anna beat both Shelepen and Tuktamysheva ar Junior Nationals. Her PCS are always strong and will be huge if she can keep the jumps together, and seeing the PCS Christina put up in Graz, I imagine an on Anna would put up even higher numbers.
I feel like Anna's biggest challenge is her consistency. When ever she skates well, she gets very good scores. She just doesn't always skate so well.

Aren't Polina Agafonova and Darya Afansieva already assigned to compete in Germany and CZE with Tuktamysheva and Shelepen? Or maybe are they just placeholders?
Afanasyeva is definitely a placeholder and Polina Agafonova will not get the second assignment (at least I don't think she will) after her result in Austria
I'm a little confused at how Russian spots at determined. Last season Polina Agafonova bombed her first JGP event and was still given a 2nd event and Anna and Roza were both given 2 events despite placing 5th at their first events. I do think it kind of makes sense to give Anna a shot to compete at Dresen if she can just where based on last season she could potentially do very well, and then if she does do well there sending her to CZE makes sense too as she needs 2 assignments to make the final and Agafonova will definitely not make the final based on her result in Austria.
