Does anyone know if any events will be on the Russian WebTv service again? There is someone right now rebroadcasting a US open tennis event off one of their channels on UStream, and WebTv has really improved picture and sound quality, from what I can see Will we be able to watch any skating in Hi-Def on WebTV this coming season?

In the US, icenetwork is doing live streaming of the GP events, and on demand coverage after the events. NBC's Universal sports has delayed TV coverage.

What's available in other countries?

the italian tv will broadcast the competitions live, but i'm not sure this link works abroad

Are you sure about this? I just pitched out $10 for three months on an Italian VPN service, so I can get the events, just in case they are not on WebTV. Nobody has mentioned WebTV, so I got the Italian VPN so I can watch the RAIsport coverage. Does anyone have a schedule of what parts of competition, and when, will be broadcast on RAI?

I hope that the GP series have not gone over to Russia 2/RTR. I have watched Europeans and Worlds on RTR, and Russia2/RTR leaves a lot to be desired. With the constant commercial interruptions, I might as as well watch in on NBC or Universal, if I am going to get bombarded with that many commercials. And Russia 2/RTR often cuts off coverage in the middle of an event for something else. There are only two Russian-based sports networks, RTR and NTV. I just hope that NTV still has the GP series.

I remember weird stuff happening the last couple of years. Literally 20 minutes before the event, somebody finds a link to a TV station in Turkey that has live streaming for free. Of course, that's after I paid a subscription to IceNetwork for the pleasure of watching a black screen.

WebTV will show the entire GP series. The Turkish channel only shows Europeans and Worlds, and often only ladies because of Tugba.

Any tech people out there who can help me with a video question? When I try to make a video go full screen, I get sound but no picture, only a white screen. With video on small screen, the video lags behind the audio. My settings must be off but I'm not sure what to do. Definitely want to get this addressed before NHK. Any thoughts?

A recent "upgrade" to the player that IN and youtube use set "Enable video acceleration" to on. You get a white screen if you have an older video card that does not support video acceleration. To turn it off, start running any youtube video in a small screen. Right click once on the video. A context menu will come up. Select "Settings" from that menu. Then uncheck "Enable video acceleration" Then hit "close". You should be in business in full screen mode then, both in IN and youtube.

Does anyone know if Skatebuzz in Canada will transmit live GP series like last year? I went on the site and there seems to be only Skate Canada discussed on the home page

Icenetwork problem - Warning

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just spent an hour on the phone with Icenetwork tech support. I've got a paid subscription but couldn't access any of the videos from Regionals. That worried me because I want to watch NHK on the net. I could still watch 2010 Nationals and older videos.

It seems that the last big Windows update which made it harder for a third party to "hijack" my computer has made it virtually impossible to watch any new videos on Icenetwork. Their tech support people are working on this, but as of right now the only solution is to download and install Mozilla Firefox and Adobe Flash for Firefox. I also had to update Java for Firefox.

The Tech Specialist walked me through all of the steps, but it still took about 50 minutes. Even the Tech Support people at Icenetwork have had to switch to Firefox. He did say that a solution is still being worked out so that people who are using Internet Explorer will be able to watch all the Regionals and NHK, etc., but so far they don't know when it will all be worked out.

I just updated Windows XP, and I could view regionals without a problem.

Did you have Vista or Windows 7?

What was the symptom of your problem? (White screen? Black screen? Endless buffering? what?)

Icenetwork

Doris I'm running Windows XP, 7. When I logged into Icenetwork I could view any of the older videos but when I went to Regionals all I could get was the subscription screen - no video or anything - just the subscription screen.

When I called Tech Support they had me click on the title of the event - in this case New England Regionals Senior Ladies SP - and I immediately went back to the subscription screen. Same results when I clicked on the little skate icon next to the event title. I had already tried shutting my computer completely down and restarting and then logging back into Icenetwork but it didn't help. The Tech support fellow had already talked to 22 other people today with the same problem.

According to him this is happening to users who are running Internet Explorer. I haven't tried this on the other computer which I have access to which is running Windows Vista Home Edition.

I'm having the same issue (seeing the subscription screen only for the newer events) on both explorer and Firefox. (on XP)

Haven't been able to get through to support.

Looks like I wasted 39.95

(I had only a few issues with my subscription last year)
