Skaters representing Japan will be determined when the Japanese Championships conclude, from those who fulfill any of the following 3 criteria, and under over-all considerations by the federation.

1. Highest three Japanese finishers per discipline in the Grand Prix Final / Grand Prix series
2. Top three finishers per discipline in the Japanese Championships
3. Highest three Japanese per discipline in the ISU World Rankings at the time the Japanese Championship conclude.

The skater's particiption in the Japanese Championships is mandatory to be subject of this selection.

There may be cases where a skater, who has finished within the top six at any of past World Championships, does not meet the above criteria but is taken into consideration under observation of his/her prospect at the World Campionships '11; but this, only when it is due to injury etc in the first half of this season.

Interesting that Japan can go beyond their National results. The americans can also, but wont, if I am correct that they will rely soley on the US Nats on whom to send. The US interest in the Worlds would be if the US can regain 3 singles/teams for the following Worlds. it's not taking home a top prize this season, it's for next season. Just a point of interest.

The Japanbese fereation has always taken other events into consderation, In fact, in previous the Grand Prix was given so much weight that the highest placed Japanese skater in the GP finals earned an automatic berth on the world team.

The change is, now they are saying only that the Federation will "take these events into consideration." In other words, the Federation will pick the team in whatever manner it thinks best.
