Elena definitely wins and Galina is either 2nd or 3rd.
This is for the LP only. The placings overall aren't yet on Icecalc.

The biggest surprises here are the strong performance by Diane Poth (who is supposed to have landed 6 triples) and the weak performances of the Russian girls. I am assuming that Carolina's jumps have returned! Go Caro!

And Liashenko is in the GPF; were COR and COC her counting events?

Thanks Doris! Some surprises there, but congratulations to the medalists.

IIRC, CoC was not Liashenko's scoring event, unfortunately. So it's NHK, I believe.

This is great news for Carolina! Too bad for Bebe though.

I wish we could get some details on what they all landed.

Carolina rebounds to win the free skate and take the silver medal! Amazing! Good for her.

I really like this aspect of the CoP that allows someone to come from behind with a great "second half."

But I wonder if we will start to see more conservative programs in the SP. Maybe some of the skaters will realize that they don't necessarily have to be in the top three to "control their own destiny." They will just have to hang around and keep it close to be in contention.

I am happy to see Liashenko doing so well.

Yeah good for her! I'm disappointed for Bebe though. What a shame. :(

Too bad about Bebe. Carolina #1 in LP - can't wait to see the skate (assuming it's on TV). I wonder if she's growing into her body and isn't looking as coltish. She's got the potential to have gorgeous lines which would add to wonderful athletic abilities.

I'm totally cheerless over Bebe, but she did make a mark in the SP and these GPs are good dress rehearsals.

Cheers for Carolina. I was beginning to think this would be a wash out year for her. Glad she back on track.

Not surprised about Elena Liashenko. These old babes are hard to put down.

Very happy for Galina and Joannie.

Great for Kostner, whom I love, but to put this in context, CoR had a very weak Ladies field, with Suguri and Slutskaya, and, to a lesser extent, McDonough out, and Sokolova recovering from arthroscopic surgery. Liashenko's LP was nearly 6.5 points less than her score in CoC, over 9 points of which was lower tech score; she made up a few points in Program Elements. Which isn't to take away from a decent overall performance, but technically, her score was 25th highest of 56 so far this year.

That's compared to Kostner's tech score -- ~4.5 points higher than Liashenko's -- which was 14th highest for the year to date. That puts Kostner's overall LP score in the same range as Ota (SC), Liang (TL), and Robinson (SC). Still leagues behind Cohen's 3 events, Arakawa's SA, and Kirk's SA, quite a bit behind Arakawa's SC and TL, and Sebestyen's SC, and a couple of 3/3's behind Sebestyen's TL.

It should be a great confidence boost for Kostner, who scored over 20 points better than at SA. She'd been having a rocky year of it to date, and this puts her closer to her natural level. Here's hoping she keeps improving towards Euros and Worlds.

So with one event left, the GP final is shaping up something like this:

    Cohen (24 points)
    Arakawa (18 points)
Liashenko (12 so far, with NHK to go)

And probably 3 of the following 4:

Kirk (9 so far, with NHK to go)
Onda (9 so far with NHK to go)
Suguri (7 so far with NHK to go)
    Sebestyen (14, she's done)

If NHK goes something like Suguri, Kirk, Onda, Liashenko, then Fumie will end up with 19 points, Jenny will have 18, Elena will have 17 and Onda will have 16, which will leave Sebestyen out.

Kostner and Liang both have 9 and Corwin has 8, but they are all finished with the scoring.

Sebestyen's best hope is for Suguri to come in third (and lose a tie-break) or lower. If Poykio can stay on her feet in the SP, and Suguri skates the same way she did at CC, Poykio could be a spoiler. Onda's already beaten Suguri once this year. Liashenko's LP's so far have been significantly higher scoring than Suguri's CC LP.

If Sebastyn's getting into the GPF is dependent on Fumie, then does anyone know how Fumie is doing health wise?
