I think the Russians are churning out nothing but boring pairs lately. Totmianina/Marinin and Petrova/Tikhonov are "refrigerator breaks." I know they have tremendous talent, but I get this cold feeling when I watch, especially, Tatiana Totmianina skate. She doesn't smile much, and she doesn't look like she likes to skate.

I think under the old system, the Zhangs would've beaten Pang/Tong. The Czechs would've placed ahead of the AMericans, but their points weren't enough from the short program.

In the LP, the top three are so close. Just a long snooz.

I haven't liked the Russians much either, but I really liked Obertas last year. If she's got a good partner, there is potential for some sizzle there.

I for one, am very glad that Tanya and Maxim won! I love to watch them skate.

See it like this - if they weren't there it would always be a chinese couple who would win.

Oh please! I guess the chickens have really come home to roost then. Can you tell me the last time there was a world's podium without a Russian pair? 1960!

    P&T(RU) 9 +NHK
    Z& S 7+NHK
    L&A 5+NHK
    W&F 5+NHK
    I&B 4+NHK

I think there is no way that PetTikh will miss the final.
And no way that they won't win NHK.
But the last spot in the final looks like it belongs to whichever
    finishes in 2nd, Z&S, L&A, W&F or even I&B (provided Z&S finish 4th or lower, not likely) .

It is extremly lucky for Pe&Ti to have such weak competition at NHK. There are 4 teams they can loose to (3 Chinese and T&M), and none of them will be in Japan. Z&S, nice as they are to watch -- I just don't think it's realistic for them to win over P&T.

BTW, I also find P&T rather boring, but T&M -- I think they have been impoving greatly in their artistry, and I think they can add a lot to the sport.
