Only a few weeks till the event starts. Anyone care to venture a guess??

Men

1. Chan
2. Oda
3. Reynolds

Ladies

Can't really decide on a winner here, although I think Phaneuf might just have the best chance. Anyways, some cobination of Phaneuf, Meier and Surguri will probably medal.

Pairs

1. Dube/Davison
2. ?
3. ?

Pairs field is pretty slim here, but I think Lawrence/Sweigers have a shot at a medal.

Dance

1. Virtue/Moir (Duh.)
2. Crone/Poirier
3. Kerr/Kerr

Honourable mention goes to Paul/Islam, who I think will crack the top 5 or 6 here.

Well, those are my best guesses. Can you tell I'm Canadian? Based on my track record, these will all be completely wrong, so I invite everyone else to give this a shot.

Yay!!! I'm so happy that I'm not the only one who thinks Paul & Islam wil medal here now that Virtue & Moir are out. I know that they're new to seniors, but I saw their programs at Thornhill in August and they looked really good, so I definately think they can do it if they can keep their nerves in check. I'm actually more excited about this team than I have been about a young team since I saw Virtue and Moir for the first time in 2005. I'd love to know what everyone else thinks of them.

The men's event should be great, but the other 3 disciplines have no big (current) stars. This situation could be really boring or really exciting. Maybe we'll see someone break through. Fingers crossed that the women's competition won't be a splatfest like NHK was.

This could be the event that puts an unlikely skater/team into the GPF. The winner of the women's event would have a nice shot qualifying for the GPF, but do we really expect any of them to do well at the GPF? SC is a golden opportunity for Zawadzki. If she or Makarova can keep it together at her second event (CoR), then they should be in the final, assuming Zawad or Maka win SC. Who knows...maybe even Suguri might do well.

Men's
1. Oda
2. Rippon
3. Chan

Women's
1. Zawadzki
2. Makarova
3. Czisny

Pairs
1. Dube/Davison
2. Iliushechkina/Maisuradze
3. Duhamel/Radford

Dance
1. Kerr/Kerr
2. Crone/Poirier
3. Paul/Islam

Nobody knows why D/D are out? Has anyone seen Duhamel/Radford yet? I'm curious to see this new pairing.

my predictions are this, since the grand prix series is rigged.
cythnia phaneuf will win if not medal she is canadian, the dance candian team will win if not medal,
ladies1-cythina phaneuf no matter how she skates
2-laura lepisto
3-alissa csizny
both 2nd and 3rd places are interchangeable with maybe markova in a medal position.
crone /priorer will win and paul/islam will come in third
dube and davison rank canadian team will win if not medal
chan and reynolds will win if not medal

Men
1 Oda
2 Reynolds
3 Rippon
They will exert all efforts to let Chan win but he falls on all axels. Rippon's score will be held down as a precaution. Oda is lucky because he skates after Chan. The new rules on quads and UR are very helpful for Kevin R.

Ladies
1 Phaneuf
2 Czisny
3 Makarova
Very unpredictable and uninspiring field. They will do same things for Phaneuf and she may get by thanks to lack of strong rivals.

davison is injured. pairs is wide open - quite the opportunity for some of these teams. so from the canadian teams, 3 of the top 4 are out; D/D, V/M and Joannie. :disapp:
