Scores are going to be lower this year because they have removed an element from the short program.

Sounds pretty similar to the SP performance she gave at Skate Canada.

is it because they aren't doing spiral sequence that the range of score has changed? I mean 58 seems so low for me (Mirai's best score in SP is like 70).

    And GOE got changed, too.

I think maybe it wasn't DGs for Mirai this time, but maybe the spins. I heard she had trouble on her sit spin and her layback traveled.

Caro makes up for it with her speed and complicated step sequences. She gets high levels on her spins too.

Whatever - I thought skated better here than at COC.......I liked her spins better last season.

I think Cynthia's only mistake was hands down on one of her triple jumps, I wasn't really paying attention, loved her spins though, especially the sit spin (Rach take note!).

Well, I mean, so did Mirai at COC but she still didn't make it over 60

I think the new rules have brought out uglier spins. We see Mirai and Caroline with that god-awful camel-catch in their combination spin...

Cynthia, hands down on her lutz (slanted axis). Her step sequence is boooooring. 5th with 50.51.

Nagasu is not as good a skater as Kostner in terms of power and polish (when they are both on).

Mao's up next...I want her to remain calm and focused. She's having a hard time but (as TEB cameramen like to point out xD) she has lots of support. Stay strong, Mao-chan!!

Phaneuf is really not establishing herself as the clear-cut top Canadian lady in Rochette's absence like she had perhaps hoped to do. LaCoste may have a shot at the title after all this season.
