Drobiazko & Vanagas skate Torvill & Dean Style!

Came Across these two programs and I find it amazing as to how Magarita and Povilas were able to Skate any style they picked. This free dance is now my favorite of theirs. I don't think at the time that any couple would have gone this route to dance like this.

I hope there is a couple out there who would be interested in doing a program styled like these two.

They were a special unique team and got slammered in the scoring due to politics and suspected bribery for a bronze medal.

They are very much missed

Well I hope that more people on this board take notice of how special this team is and was. They had amoung the sharpest and most sophisticated programs ever.

I hope more people watch those 2 programs and 2 more that I shall post here

That 1999 FD was amazing. They'd be near the top if they were skating today under CoP. Some of the stuff they were doing looks better than Davis/White.

Bronze medal???? Joe, they finished 10th at that edition 1997 of worlds, not even in the vecinity of a podium finish!

Thank you for posting these dances, never seen them, back in pre 1998, they didn't make the TV cut here in NA, as we have seen only the last flight, usually. I started watching them in 1998 only.

And yes, Margarita and Povilas were all their career screwed, of a few positions in the rankings, as their federation didn't count in the political spectrum of the figure skating powers.

I think Joe is referring to the incident that happened at the end of their career when the Israelie team won due to backroom deals.
